DIY tree hanger. Original do-it-yourself clothes hangers. Pros and cons of floor hangers

A DIY clothes hanger is a fruitful idea. Theater begins with a hanger; house too. In the sense of spirit, atmosphere, “energy”. The reason is simple: the first thing a guest looks for is where to hang his outerwear. And if the hanger is clearly homemade, but comfortable, stable and durable, the owner is guaranteed a positive reputation.

The second argument for making a hanger with your own hands is prosaic: purchase prices are clearly disproportionate to production costs. A homemade clothes hanger will allow you to save an amount that is quite visible in your budget. It’s not difficult to make, you only need a little material, and waste from repairs will also be used. In most cases, the tool can be used manually.

These factors are especially felt if a floor hanger fits in the hallway. In addition, it can also serve as a dryer if its design is framed, see below, because On such hangers it is convenient to hang clothes on hangers, and the hanger itself moves away from the wall. If you managed to enclose a dressing room in your house, then a floor hanger is the best option. The cost of floor hangers is significantly higher than wall hangers, but there is nothing in the design that would prevent you from making a floor hanger yourself.

On the floor or on the wall?

What has been said is already enough to make a choice, as long as there is enough floor space. However, let’s finally look at what makes a floor-type hallway hanger so attractive:

  • Clothes hung on hangers dry faster and do not stretch; The collar and lining do not tear.
  • On a hanger approx. wide. 1.5 m will fit a seasonal set of clothes for the whole family, which will save on closet space and space for it.
  • A shoe rack is naturally attached to the floor hanger, which simplifies the work of equipping the hallway and saves its space.
  • With the correct dimensions of the hanger, neither the wall from clothes nor the clothes against the wall are damaged.
  • The mobility of the hanger does not interfere with rearranging furniture; After moving the hanger, there is no need to seal the mounting holes in the wall.

However, there are different floor hangers, and not all of them are most suitable for residential premises. For example, for order (from the old Russian “order” - office, office, office) floor lamp hangers, pos. 1-4 in Fig., hanging clothes on hangers is inconvenient. Due to the small support area, they are rolly, especially when loaded with wet winter clothes. To emphasize the functional inferiority of the product, such hangers are called hangers, and they are often sold under this name.

Types of floor hangers

The best option is the same theatrical wardrobe frame hanger, pos. 5. When designed for residential premises, it is supplemented with shelves for hats, shoes and gloves/scarves; possibly with an additional tie rod, pos. 6. Disadvantage – the “legs” of the hanger get tangled under your feet. In an attempt to get rid of it, they came up with hangers - frames on a stand, pos. 7, but generally speaking, they are even more rolls than ordered hangers. Another option is a frame hanger without legs, leaning against the wall; We will remember this one again. There are also folding frame hangers, but they have almost no advantages in everyday life.

If space is generally tight in the hallway, then it still turns out to be more suitable wall hanger. Simple wall hanger-sconce, pos. 1 in Fig., is as compact as possible, but no more convenient than an orderly one, except that it won’t fall to one side from the next jacket. Hanger-shelf, pos. 2, will not fall off if attached properly, and hats/caps from it too, but the wall and clothes rub against each other.

Types of wall hangers

Wall hanger-panel, pos. 3, saves the wall, but not clothes. Leather items wear out the most on such hangers. Tanners jokingly advise: how can you tell a sheepskin coat made from full-grain leather from one made from reverse leather? The first one, with everyday use of the panel hanger, loses its appearance in 2 winters, and the second - in half a winter. Considering the cost of products from genuine leather, this is no good. Therefore, wall panel hangers for expensive items often provide soft upholstery, pos. 4. As for wall hangers with openwork panels, pos. 5 then in in this case its meaning is only decorative: it does not protect either things or walls.

Floor hangers with chest and banquette

There are also floor hangers-panels with a stand, for example. in the form of a cabinet, chest or chest, pos. 1 in Fig. on right. This is not the best option: someone will someday put something on the lid, and the clothes being removed from the hanger will knock it onto the floor. Much more practical are floor hangers-panels with a bench, pos. 2. A flower under the seat is a matter of taste for the owners, if only it survives there, but a shoe rack or a chest for accessories for its care is in the drawer of the banquette.

Clothes and keys

Regarding panel hangers, the amateur craftsman has an additional opportunity, namely: to equip such a sidewall on the farthest side front door edge. Perhaps not reaching the bottom, with a bevel or notch. Factory ones don’t do this: the hanger should be designed for clothes to stick out from the side. One sidewall almost does not interfere with this, but it is unknown how the hanger will sit with the buyer, and making right and left hangers is expensive.

What does this add-on provide? A place for a key holder, invisible from the threshold. There, on the side, there may be a dressing table or a cabinet, but the main thing is that the owner’s keys will not catch the eye of a casual visitor, and they are in plain sight, as criminologists say, a serious factor in spontaneous illegal actions, without which, i.e. temptation, a visit from a not entirely trustworthy subject would have turned out well for both the hosts and him. You can, of course, make a luxuriously designed key holder with a secret lock, but this is a lot of work and costs for materials. Otherwise, a simple board with hooks will do. Or just hooks screwed to the side of the outside of the storage section.

We will assume that suitable design has already been selected, and let’s get started on how to make a hanger. Preferably wooden: the material is noble, natural, easy to process. Let's not forget other versions; in some cases more convenient. Let's start with floor hangers as the most functional.

Floor-standing

Those who like to craft from the heart and have a wood milling tool can immediately take up a floor frame hanger with legs. Made from fine-grained hardwood (oak, beech, hornbeam, walnut, birch), it looks luxurious and takes up only 360 mm of floor space.

A suit hanger works well as a prototype, you just need to make it taller and move the trouser bar up so you can hang hangers on it. Instead of a tie rod and handles, you can install a shelf, and a shoe rack is mounted below. Drawings of such a hanger are shown in Fig.:

Drawings of a wooden floor hanger

With the other dimensions indicated, the structural and overall width (sizes 430 and 460 respectively) without compromising strength and stability can be increased by 1-1.4 m, i.e. the hanger will be narrower than family width up to more than 1.8 m. Self-orienting wheels, if full mobility is needed, can be installed without problems.

About hooks and traps

Bags, umbrellas, scarves are also left on the hanger, and a bachelor’s skirt and lingerie may also be there. Sometimes life is life. It is also more convenient to hang clothes on hooks for a short time. Therefore, in frame hangers, sometimes slider hooks are put on the main rod (formerly the trouser rod in Fig; height 1360). They or the hangers, depending on the need, are moved to the side en masse. But the sliding hooks under the fingers turn out at the most inopportune moment. In a hanger of this design and similar ones, the problem is solved simply: the main rod is for hangers, and the fixed hooks are attached to the top board.

Pipes and profiles

Original hangers are made from round or profile metal or plastic pipes, see fig. However, despite all the design tricks, their organic defects do not disappear. The same ones that hanged the orderly. But it adds high labor intensity: in order to hide the connecting nodes, you have to really strain both your hands and your head.

Pipe hangers

It is better to make a square base for a floor lamp hanger from pipes. With the same floor area removed, the distance between the support points increases by 1.4 times. If you make the base even heavier, a hanger up to 1.7 m high turns into a full-fledged hanger. 60 mm sewer pipes are most suitable.

A short master class in pictures on making the base of a floor hanger from pipes is shown in the following. rice. Pipe sections are 150-300 mm, depending on how much floor can be given to the hanger. In addition to them, you will need 3 straight tees, 4 right angles and 4 plugs. Connections are made using propylene or PVC glue, depending on the pipe material. Weighting - sand or small crushed stone.

Making the base of a hanger from pipes

One of the comments to original design begins with a question something like this: “Why couldn’t you just solder it?” Judging by the fact that later in the same comment, 90° angles are called bends with an obvious claim to professionalism (plumbing bends are oblique tees), to question mark 2-3 more and the same number of exclamation points suggest themselves.

Nevertheless, the author of the product, even if she did not know plumbing terminology, solved the problem quite like an engineer. The hanger doesn't need sealed joints, and a tube of glue will cost much less than renting a soldering iron for propylene. Which you also need to learn how to use, spoiling a lot of the material. For greater reliability, you can reinforce the connections with phosphated (black) self-tapping screws: their heads are not visible on black, and the strength of the hanger will not be reduced.

Note: the top in the original design is also made of pipes, but its design, frankly speaking, is not that... It would be better to drill into the rack inclined holes and insert some strong pins into them using the same glue; wooden, metal.

Simple frame

Scheme of a simple floor-wall hanger made of pipes

A frame hanger made of pipes can be without legs, simply leaning against the wall at an angle. However, its slope must be negative. There should be at least 350 mm between the wall and clothes on hangers. If the frame tilt is positive ( top bar adjacent to the wall), then the lower one will “move away” from the baseboard by 500-600 mm. In a small hallway this is a serious inconvenience. In addition, they will either cling to the bottom crossbar with their feet and it will break the floor, or they will have to fasten it to the floor, and this is really bad: any violation of the flooring is fraught with complex and expensive emergency repairs. Have you ever seen furniture on sale that needs to be screwed to the floor? Except that special purpose, eg. rack. And then, they also try to make do with fastenings to the walls and, in extreme cases, the ceiling.

The diagram of a frame hanger with a negative slope made of pipes is shown in Fig. The materials are the same: straight segments sewer pipes 60 mm, 90 angles and straight tees. Seized usable area gender – zero. Below there can be a shoe rack or a banquette. For fastening to the wall, so as not to drill a lot and do without expensive collet anchors, it is better to take a couple more tees: with their help, the holding beams - guy wires - are attached to the wall with a pair of self-tapping screws in dowels each.

Wall mounted

Simple panel hangers do not require any special disassembly. How to make a wooden wall hanger, see e.g. video.

Here we remember, firstly, about the sconce hanger. Foldable, it can be very useful if you are ready big company or the kids have returned from the yard at any rate.

An example of this type of design is shown on the right in Fig. However, its creators were clearly guided by the principle: “Consumption is the basis of cash circulation.” The outer (folded) side of the flap is inactive and requires a locking mechanism. And a separate hanger for every day.

Compact folding wall hanger

Meanwhile, folding wall hangers have been known since Ancient Egypt. In the climate there, outerwear was worn occasionally, in bad weather, but after wearing it it was necessary to dry it. There was no point in keeping a separate hanger for this in areas where it rains and is cold only once a year, so they came up with one like the one on the right in Fig.

When folded, the compact Egyptian wall hanger was secured with a cypress stick. Now, of course, you can install a ball retainer or just a hook. The main thing is that the hook hooks should be 3/4 of a circle, then nothing will fall off them even with the bar folded back. And without need, the whole hanger looks like just a stick on the wall; You can hang bags, umbrellas, and keys on the hooks.

More about hooks

An original wooden hanger can be made without any metal at all, not counting the fasteners. Do not rush to throw away the New Year's pine or Christmas tree (only the blanks will need to be turned upside down):

Video: original DIY wooden hanger

Such a hanger will look best in a country house, in a timber or frame house. Depending on the interior design – even in a city apartment. It will go well in the bathhouse: touching steamed skin to metal is both unpleasant and, to some extent, even dangerous.

Hangers for the nursery

Probably all children throw away their clothes. There is no need to particularly scold them for this: without experiencing chaos within reasonable limits, you will not get accustomed to order. Who is against it - answer Friday’s question to Robinson Crusoe: “Why doesn’t the devil kill God?”

However, it is necessary to teach children to handle things properly. Only a children's hanger, so as not to cause obvious psychological rejection, should look somewhat disordered. It is also highly desirable that the child associate it with his favorite game or hobby. Examples of “game/hobby” type wall hangers for children’s rooms are given in pos. 1 and 2 fig.

Children's hangers

A universal method of this kind is a tree hanger, pos. 3. In the contour of a tree, as in any fractal structure, order and chaos interact and complement each other, giving rise to a harmonious whole. Just don’t forget to make the wood stronger, e.g. from plywood from 12 mm, and properly, in increments of no more than 250-300 mm, attach to the wall with self-tapping screws from 6 mm in propylene dowels. A tree is meant for climbing.

Floor hangers in a nursery are undesirable for the same reason: well, they will climb anyway and crash. Therefore, if you want a floor hanger for the nursery, you need to make one that you can’t fit on, as can be seen in pos. 4 and 5.

About cutting plywood

In any case, parents are faced with problems that little ones don’t care about yet: material consumption and labor intensity. Drawing a complex contour along a grid on a single sheet of plywood is no longer easy; then you need to cut it out precisely, which is even more difficult. And in the end it turns out that 60% or 80% of the material went to waste, no longer suitable for anything. On the contrary, you need to make a children's tree hanger from waste. Or cut a whole sheet more tightly.

Assembling parts of a wooden hanger from plywood

The method for this has long been known: element-by-element cutting and assembly. If the tree is plywood, for full strength of the finished product, each part is assembled from 2 layers, leaving the corresponding folds and grooves, see fig. Fragments of blanks are assembled using PVA glue, wood glue or “Express” (liquid nails). If the assembly is made of PVA, the fragments must be additionally fastened with small snake nails in increments of 100-150 mm with a distance of 30-40 mm from the edges.

The wooden hanger is assembled using the same adhesives, but now each connection must be secured with wood screws and an envelope. Then the gaps and fastener heads (they need to be recessed during assembly) are rubbed with putty made from sawdust of the same plywood on PVA. Such wood will look solid even without painting, only under varnish.

Note: Just in case, let's remind you - that's it wooden parts Before assembly, any wooden hanger must be sanded with fine sandpaper and treated with a water-polymer emulsion or PVA diluted three to five times with water. After impregnation, before further work, do technological break until the part is completely dry (1-3 days, depending on its size).

And one last thing about hooks

In the illustrations above, you most likely noticed the curved wooden hooks and other details of the hangers. It is quite possible to make them at home. In production, dense, fine-grained, defect-free wood or waterproof birch plywood (BS grade) is bent by heating with steaming or dry, but for home work these methods are too complicated. Only bamboo is steamed more or less simply: the workpiece is boiled for half an hour or an hour in rapidly boiling water, after which it is bent by hand. In the case of bending according to a template, the workpiece must be quickly tied to it, before it has cooled down, with a wide cotton braid or a strip of natural tarpaulin.

Wood rasp

At home, it is easier to cut blanks of the required configuration from a sheet of plywood (any) or MDF required thickness or, twice or four times as much in quantity, from thin sheet material, in order to then gain as much as is required in thickness. Cut with a finishing allowance of approx. 1 mm. The cut blanks are tightly pulled together in a package in a carpenter's vice or in a mechanic's vice through spacers made of thick plywood and processed with a wood rasp to size, and then sanded clean. One rasp is enough, with flat and semicircular working surfaces, see fig.

The blanks are assembled into parts using the method described above. The end surfaces, if it is necessary to hide the layered structure of the plywood, are sealed with strips of self-adhesive wood-like film. After this, the part is varnished twice or thrice. acrylic varnish on water based; nitro varnish can damage the self-adhesive. Edge (edge) plastic furniture edge not worth it: you need to accurately select the groove for the edge anchor, which requires a milling machine, but on curved surfaces of large curvature and short length The edge still doesn't hold well. And parts covered with self-adhesive tape, varnished, and solid wood cannot be immediately distinguished even by a master cabinetmaker.

As you know, theater begins with a hanger. The hallway also begins with hangers. The hanger is important element interior, capable of decorating and complementing, as well as streamlining the environment. It should look attractive and not take up much space. Today furniture industry produces a wide range of various designs various designs, however, many are interested in how to make a clothes hanger with their own hands. It is these products that transform the atmosphere, make the premises unusual, original and with a “zest”.

Making a hanger yourself is quite simple. This will require imagination, as well as the desire to make something extraordinary, something that cannot be bought in a store. A homemade hanger will undoubtedly decorate any room and attract the admiring glances of guests. To make it, you can use any available materials - empty bottles, beads, wire and all sorts of little things that you will probably find at home. Gifts of nature are perfect for this purpose, for example, bizarrely shaped branches, as well as leftovers. building materials after repair.

The design and shape of the future product depend on the wishes of the owner. You can look for inspiration on the Internet, look at photos of original hangers, or download a diagram of an idea you like. In any case, you first need to decide on the type of hanger and the material for its manufacture.

What types of hangers are there?

There are two types of hangers that you can make yourself - wall and floor.

Wall hanger is the most simple solution. It usually consists of a horizontal crossbar to which hooks are attached in one or several rows; it may have an upper shelf for hats or a special transverse beam for “hangers.” The shape of the horizontal crossbar-base is usually rectangular or with rounded corners, but if you wish, you can make it absolutely anyone. For example, in the shape of a heart or a tree leaf.

Typically, a wall hanger in a hallway is made of wood. The fact is that wood is an excellent natural material, which can be easily processed at home: cut the required form made of canvas and coated with any paint.

floor hanger is a structure consisting of a vertical support on a base. Hooks for clothes are attached to the top of the support. It is important that the hanger is not only decorative, but also practical. Special attention need to be given to the base. It must be very stable so that the structure can withstand the weight of the clothing and not fall. There are many design options for such hangers, but they differ not only in shape and size, but also in the material they are made of.

Floor hangers

First, you need to decide on the material. Floor hangers are:

  • Metal.
  • Forged.
  • Wooden.
  • Plastic.

Metal products are very strong and durable, have a lot of weight, and therefore are considered the most stable. Metal hangers with elements artistic forging- real works of art that will add grace to any hallway. However, not everyone can make this kind of product at home, because the work will require complex tools and skills in working with metal.

The simplest option for making a metal floor hanger at home is to re-equip an old floor lamp. It has a support and a lampshade to which you can attach hooks made of thick wire. By the way, you can weave original patterns from it and use them as hooks for clothes. The base can also be decorated with decorative elements.

Wooden hanger - wonderful a budget option for the hallway. Wooden crafts do not go out of fashion. They fascinate with their natural beauty; they can be used for any style and direction in the interior.

To make a wooden hanger, you can use a sheet of plywood or boards, but if you want to make something truly unique, it is better to turn to the gifts of nature. So, a small dry tree can become the basis of a future hanger.

It should be cleared of bark and knots and thoroughly processed. sandpaper and secure to the base. In this case, it is better to provide a support on three legs; it is considered the most stable. Then you need to decorate the top of the hanger. It can be made like a tree crown. Can be used as hooks beautiful shape branches that should first be cleaned and sanded.

The final stage is coating the entire structure with varnish or paint. As decoration, you can use balls or large beads, which are fixed with glue to the base of the hanger or on hooks.

This video shows the process of making a wall hanger.

Here are some more ideas for inspiration.

Everyone knows the saying that “theater begins with a coat rack.” It is worth saying that not only in public institutions the hanger plays out important role, but also in apartments and houses. After all, the absence of this important subject interior design can cause clutter in the hallway. Today there are many different types of hangers on sale. different shapes and design, but it will not be difficult to make it on your own from scrap materials. We'll tell you how to do this further.

Wood is usually used to make clothes hangers. But not every material is suitable for this. You should choose the most dried and durable wood. If the material is not properly dried, then after a while it may lose its shape. Of all types of wood for hangers, it is recommended to give preference to pine. This material is good because it is easy to process and is lightweight. If you decide to use solid oak, you should take into account that it is more difficult to process and is heavier. The parts of a wooden hanger are usually joined together using glue. Some people are similarly charged with it important requirements. By the way, glue in the presence of undried wood may lose its adhesion due to the release of moisture from the material.

The choice of hanger shape plays a very important role. It should be taken into account that this piece of furniture requires at least three supports, the length of which directly depends on the height of the product. Thus, it turns out that the higher the hanger, the more massive and more supports it should have. Often this product is intended not only for outerwear, but also for trouser suits, in order to store all clothes in one place. For this purpose, the width of the hanger is usually made larger than usual. Thus, many different clothes can fit here.

When you have decided on the hanger model, you should draw a diagram that will indicate exact dimensions future product. Moreover, it is advisable to describe the dimensions of even the smallest details. This will come in handy during the manufacture of the product. When the diagram is ready, you can begin installing the wooden floor hanger for clothes.

DIY floor clothes hanger

To make the product you need:

  • saw,
  • drill,
  • sandpaper,
  • chisel.

Necessary materials:

  • bars of the required sizes,
  • boards,
  • wood glue,
  • screws,
  • stain for processing the product,

When you have all this, you can start working. It is advisable to decide in advance on the shade of the future product. In general, light wood can be painted in almost any tone. To do this, it is enough to apply stain until the surface of the hanger is the desired shade. When covering with stain or varnish, some kind of substrate should be placed under the product. Otherwise, drops may accidentally fall on the floor. Varnish should be used only after the stain has completely dried. In general, due to its strong odor, it is best to work with varnish in a room that is well ventilated or, in general, in outdoors. After opening the varnish, the product should be wiped with a rag soaked in a weak solution of vinegar.

Let's take a closer look at the order of work:

  1. First you need to prepare the wood. In particular, the tree trunk is cleared of bark and rough knots. Under no circumstances should the bark be left, no matter how much you would like to give the product more natural look. After all, if you leave it, it will gradually crumble, thereby creating an additional reason for cleaning the room. In addition, the bark is often a habitat for small insects.
  2. The bark can be removed with an ax or knife. After this, you should go over the wood several times, first with coarse and then with fine sandpaper. The surface should eventually become smooth, at least to prevent clothes from clinging to the knots.
  3. After this, the base of the product should be made. It is worth saying that it is advisable to make all the elements of the hanger (legs and tripod) one whole. You shouldn't start with the cross. Otherwise, if you then attach the hanger itself to it, the structure may become loose over time. Must be adhered to next rule– the lower edge of the tripod must be made on the same plane as the sole of the legs.
  4. After this, you can proceed to measuring the diameter of the barrel. The measurements taken will be needed to select a bar of suitable width. If the block is wider than necessary, then you can saw it lengthwise with a hacksaw to the required size.
  5. Typically, the height of a hanger is about 1.7 m. For a product of this height, the cross should have overhangs of about 30-32 cm. Therefore, a pair of bars 65 cm long will be needed. They will need to be cut in half to make four pieces about 30-32 cm long.
  6. The hardest part is attaching the legs to the round trunk. If you simply attach the bars, the structure will turn out to be unstable, and after the first fall, it will most likely fall apart. It is better to place the tripod on the floor and attach the leg blanks to it. To connect them, you will need to make triangular wooden inserts. Then they are attached to the bars using self-tapping screws.
  7. To strengthen the product in the places where the triangular elements are attached to the legs and barrel, you need to drill a hole with a diameter several millimeters smaller than the diameter of the fastener. It will need to be filled with glue later. Only after this can you screw in the screws. Sometimes, to make the structure more stable, the holes, in addition to glue, are also filled with pieces of rubber.
  8. To give the finished hanger functionality, you should add hooks for outerwear. They can be made at some distance from the trunk. One thing to keep in mind here important rule. To prevent the structure from falling, the center of gravity of the clothes hung on the hanger should not be outside the cross.
  9. Hooks can be used both homemade and decorative. In any case, they cannot be attached directly to a tripod, because the floor clothes hanger will quickly wear out and become unusable. You can do this: take the bars and cut them into a square with a side slightly larger than the diameter of the trunk. Initially, the hooks are attached to this square of wood, and then to the product itself. Thus, they will be securely fastened, and at the same time they will not come into contact with the “body” of the product, which, thanks to such a device, will last longer. This is especially useful for wardrobe racks that are used quite frequently.

You can decide for yourself which hooks to use - decorative or homemade. However, if you make them yourself from wire, they will not have a very attractive appearance. Therefore, it is better to give preference to decorative hooks purchased in the store. They are usually attached to wood with a pair of self-tapping screws. If you have the necessary skills, you can use a chisel to cut out square-shaped holes, where you should then “hide” the hooks. This will look better than simply mounting it on self-tapping screws. When the hooks are in place, you need a square wooden insert connect with top part products using several screws.

As for the hanger itself, it can be painted or varnished. Choose a shade to suit your taste, but it is better to match the style of decoration of the room where the wooden floor hanger for the hallway will be located. A layer of paint or varnish is applied at least twice.

The base for a wooden floor hanger must be sufficiently heavy and stable. You can use the bottom of a floor lamp, the frame of a floor fan, or buy a stand for a Christmas tree.

Wooden floor-mounted suit hanger

The above hanger is not suitable for men's suits. Therefore, products of a slightly different design are made for them. Wood is similarly used as the main material. To assemble such a hanger, you must first measure and cut the blanks according to the given dimensions. They are then carefully processed and polished. After which in in the right places mounting holes are made.

Next, according to the diagram, the product itself is assembled and completed finishing. All that remains is to attach pieces of rubber or wheels to the base. A little more detail about assembling such a hanger: first, the vertical posts are screwed to the base using 4 large screws. Then a strip is inserted between these supports and screwed using small screws. Next, a trouser holder is inserted into the holes of the vertical posts. To securely fix it, you will need a mallet. After this, the structure is screwed to the vertical posts using four screws. Then the hangers are screwed on. The suit hanger is ready for use.

How to make a wall hanger

The basis of such a hanger is a shield on which hooks are placed. It can be made either solid or lattice. For last option You will need less material and it is also lighter. To assemble such a shield, take a pair of bars and attach them parallel to each other using dowels. After this, vertical planks about 8 cm wide are nailed to them, and hooks are attached to the boards.

The dimensions of such a hanger can be different and mainly depend on the dimensions of the wall and the entire room. If you wish, you can decorate it beautifully: varnish, paint or cover it with self-adhesive film. In any case, do not forget to properly process the ends and edges so that there are no rough spots left. If you wish, you can make it at the top of the hanger using metal corners a board-shaped shelf about 25 cm wide where hats will be stored. If the hanger is made to the full height of the wall, then a shelf for shoes is usually installed in the lower part. For reliability, it is advisable to install 5x5 bars from below that will support this shelf.

Wooden floor hangers: photo

When we come home, we try to quickly take off our shoes and outerwear. Simply throwing it on a chair or chest of drawers is a sure way to wrinkle your wardrobe items and bring even more clutter to a small room. The problem can be solved in 2 ways - by installing a wardrobe or installing a small hanger in the hallway, if free space very little.

These small storage systems will be discussed in today’s material. Today, choosing furniture for a home is not particularly difficult, regardless of the size of the room. But if you decide suitable model failed, rely on own strength, having previously prepared a sketch.

Hand-made suspension

For hospitable hosts, this is a product of paramount importance; it is used to place things in the hallway. Traditionally, it is placed in close proximity to the front door so that no one walks on the floor in dirty shoes. The variety of this furniture is impressive even experienced designers. Pick up beautiful model, matching the interior easily. You can also make it yourself.

Wall furniture must meet 3 criteria:

  • reliability;
  • structural lightness;
  • convenience.

Before you do, you need to decide in advance on its appearance and functionality, clarify the material from which the walls are made.

In the case of drywall, wall-mounted furniture is not suitable. The best optionfloor solutions. From attachment to surface finishing material It’s better to refuse from the beginning so that you don’t have to restore it.

To attach products to such walls, special dowels are required, special tools and equipment. Without preparatory activities the structure may not withstand the weight of furniture and things, which can lead to the structure falling.

In this case floor models with a row of hooks they look better. They do not fall because things are evenly distributed along the entire length. The main advantages of such products are mobility and minimal weight, with high reliability. For the hallway, the easiest way is to make a hanger with your own hands from wood, chipboard or fiberboard. Ready product decorated with ornaments, designs, or simply painted or varnished.

Step-by-step instructions for making a wooden hanger

The palm traditionally holds natural wood, since it is easy to give it any shape, in accordance with the prepared sketch.

The most beautiful hangers are made of wood. The structure of this wood is fragile, so you need to be extremely careful when screwing in the hooks.

You must first prepare following tools and materials:

  • set wooden boards suitable shape and size;
  • screwdriver;
  • sandpaper (“micron”);
  • jigsaw;
  • hooks;
  • hacksaw with small teeth.

Prepare wooden blanks suitable size. The material must be sanded. To form a perfectly smooth surface, the wood is sanded. As for finishing, here you can be guided by your own taste - open the surface with paint, varnish or stick it on it decorative paper. At the final stage, hooks are attached to the board (with a screwdriver).

Wall mount

A DIY hanger for the hallway should not only be beautiful and comfortable, but also be securely fixed to the wall and withstand the weight of outerwear. Experts distinguish 2 methods of fastening furniture.

  1. The easiest way is to drill through the hanger with self-tapping screws, thereby securing it to the wall.
  2. More complex method– prepare on the back of hanger 2 metal hinges, and then use them to attach the hanger.

The process is completed - the wall furniture is ready for use.

Before acceptance final decision When making or purchasing a clothes hanger, it is important to consider a number of nuances. First of all, the availability and area of a free zone for placing furniture. Secondly, the style of the hallway and other rooms in the apartment or house. Thirdly, the height and location of the furniture.

Criteria for choosing a hanger for a corridor or hall:

  • the product should visually echo or complement the main style of the room;
  • For classic interior A wall hanger is suitable;
  • The decoration of minimalism will be the floor model.

Floor furniture is distinguished by its laconicism and lightness. If necessary, it can be quickly removed or moved to another place. This is one of best options for a medium-sized hallway. Be that as it may, a hanger is an important practical attribute of any interior, regardless of size and style.

Such furniture takes up minimal space, but can accommodate a large number of of things. Each wardrobe item has a separate hook, so there are no problems or inconveniences in finding the right things. Near the front door you can organize a compact storage system in which there is room for hats, umbrellas, and bags.

Fixing hooks and hangers

There are several basic ways to attach hooks and hangers to the wall. You can take the path of least resistance and fix the product without special equipment. But for connoisseurs of refined and original solutions This issue is worth thinking about separately. In the case of wooden hangers, they are often limited to metal hooks. Such systems are attached to the wall with screws.

As for the hooks, they differ in the method of attachment:

  • magnets;
  • suckers;
  • adhesive segments (with horizontal or vertical orientation).

Their installation requires a minimum of time and practical skills, which is why they have gained immense popularity among consumers. But the elements listed above also have a significant drawback - they cannot withstand a lot of weight (you won’t be able to hang a sheepskin coat or a fur coat on them). Their scope of application is limited to hats and light accessories.

You can do without a hanger in the hallway or corridor only if you have a large closet, and even then not always. In private homes, it is more convenient to have “duty” clothes on hand - to jump out into the yard. Those that are mounted on the wall are more convenient: they take up less space. One thing is not encouraging: the prices for worthy specimens are considerable. Therefore, we will tell you how to make a wall hanger with your own hands. The models are different, different techniques are used, but they have one thing in common: they are easy to make, especially with detailed photos process and explanations. There are also diagrams and video tutorials.

From boards in the form of a tree

To our small hallway need a hanger. I don’t want to buy a regular one in the form of a bar with hooks - I don’t really like them, and my little daughter won’t be able to get them. Other options with a set of parallel boards are also not inspiring. There is a switch on this wall, so it won’t work without adjustment, and it’s not clear what it will look like. Therefore, it was decided: I make a wall hanger with my own hands in the shape of a tree - trunk, branches. It fits into the interior. I will treat the wood with stain and water-based varnish; the color should be close to the color of the front door.

So, two were purchased at the sawmill unedged boards 25 mm thick. There are markings on them - on one there is a trunk, on the other there are branches.

We take an electric jigsaw and cut out the blanks along the marked contours. Next is a round of very dusty work - we sand the wood, while at the same time adjusting the thickness of the joints with the “branches”. We used a drill with a rubber attachment and sandpaper. First the coarse grain, then the medium and fine grain.

Sanding is a dusty business

Once the result was satisfactory - it became smooth and the grain of the wood was clearly visible - it was time to stain. This is a mahogany color applied in four layers. After drying, we coated everything with water-based varnish. Three layers were applied at intervals of three hours.

200 mm nails were used as hooks. They were cut to the required length (they were different - longer for the top of the hanger, shorter for the bottom). The caps and rod were sanded for smoothness, and threads were cut on the lower part to the thickness of the board (25 mm). Holes were previously made in the “branches” and “hooks” were screwed into them.

Now all that remains is to fix all the parts on the wall. The walls are concrete, so we fasten them with dowels. First we attach the barrel and drill holes through it. Set aside the wood for now and insert plastic plugs for the dowels into the holes. Having placed the “trunk” in place, we screw it. Using the same technology we attach the “branches”.

It turned out well, and the color matches the door almost exactly. There are plans to build a small shelf for shoes and bags. The entire cost of making this hanger was about $6 for the boards and $2 for the nails, about the same amount was spent on the dowels. There was stain and varnish, and the consumption was small.

Simple wall hanger made of laminated chipboard

The task is to make a cheap clothes hanger on the wall (for a rented apartment). IN hardware store bought two boards from laminated chipboard() entitled " furniture board" Two, because the price turned out to be low, and in the accessories department, where they were looking for hooks, they found some good brackets for very little money. We will use them for the second board - we will make a shelf for small items.

Tools you will need are a screwdriver or screwdriver, a drill, and a set of drills. Also, use a tape measure and a pencil to mark the places where hooks and brackets are attached.

After unpacking the boards, glue stains and some other incomprehensible stains were found on them. All this can be eliminated with a solvent. Take a soft white (not colored) rag and wipe everything well.

Next, mark with a pencil the places for the screws. Remove the hooks and drill holes. Drill - 1-2 mm smaller in diameter than the diameter of the self-tapping screw. The hole is necessary so that the work goes easier, and also so that the surface does not crack when twisting. We put the hooks in place.

Now it's the turn of the shelf. I set aside equal distances on one side and the other, attached the brackets, and marked the holes for fastening. Drilled holes and installed brackets. All.

Now we attach it to the wall. The technique is the same, but with dowels: apply, mark the attachment points, drill. The drill is the size of the dowel. We insert the dowel plug into the hole, attach the hanger/shelf to the wall, and fasten it.

This DIY wall hanger was made in two hours (including the shelf).

Hanger with shelf

You can take the idea as a basis and use any other “hooks” and stops. This DIY wall hanger is made from two 25mm planed boards, two carpenter's squares and five hammers.

The wood needs to be dry, otherwise cracks may occur. Instead of squares, you can even use triangular pieces of a similar board. Important condition- Availability right angle. And instead of hammers, you can even secure knots or, for example, cut wooden hangers, yes any hooks. This option is just a gift.

Spare parts - hammers and squares

The two boards must be the same length. An exact match is important. Having adjusted the length, we sand the edges. There is a drill - we take the attachment, attach the emery and sand first with coarse grain, then with medium grain. Then we start marking. First, we mark where the stops will be attached. We divide the remaining distance by six, put marks - there are five of them. Just according to the number of “hooks”.

We mercilessly cut off the handles on the hammers. We cut it slightly obliquely to create a slight slope.

Using a drill, make holes in the center. The diameter of the drill is 1-2 mm smaller than the fastener used, the depth of the hole is no less than the length of the self-tapping screw.

The two boards must be connected at right angles. The installation step of the screws is 10-15 cm. We mark the places on the sidewall and transfer them to the end. High accuracy is required. We apply one to the other and transfer the marks with a finely sharpened pencil. We make holes according to the markings.

Drilling holes

We fold the boards at an angle of 90° and connect them with self-tapping screws. First we twist the two outermost ones, then the one in the middle, and then all the rest. The length of the screws is at least 75 mm (triple the thickness of the board).

Using the markings, we drill holes for the hooks.

We install angle stops. Since carpenter's squares were used, there were no holes in them. They were drilled - two at the top and bottom on each plank. There are 8 screws on one stop. We take them small - more than 20 mm, so as not to puncture the wood. Therefore, a large number of them are required.

The wooden wall hanger is ready. All that's left to do is paint it and hang it on the wall.

Based on this homemade hanger, other versions were made.
