Beautiful places in Yalta. What to see in Yalta in one day, three days and a week

Yalta is a beautiful corner of Crimea, which attracts tourists with its welcoming sea and beautiful views of the mountain ranges. The name of Yalta has the ancient Greek root “Yalos”, which means “shore”. To get a better acquaintance with Yalta, it is worth visiting all or at least some of the attractions created by nature and human hands.

Palace of the Emir of Bukhara.

The architecture of the building is perhaps one of the most famous and exquisite buildings in Yalta. You can get to know the palace better while on the territory of the Yalta sanatorium. Emir of Bukhara built a palace, created a park and 4 buildings for servants in the period of time 1898-1903. The palace attracts tourists with its asymmetrical composition, represented by a large number of terraces, porticoes and belvederes. And the gaze constantly lingers on openwork carving columns

Church of St. John Chrysostom.

This one was erected in the very center of old Yalta on Polikurovsky Hill. Slender cypress trees rise around the temple. The temple was built according to the drawings of the famous Italian architect G.I. Toricelli. The basis of the structure was lime blocks in a pseudo-Gothic style; the walls of the temple were painted in ocher tones. The temple was decorated with five gilded domes. The three-tiered bell tower became a navigational landmark for the entire city. In 1941, the temple was destroyed; in 1994, the shrine was revived, and throughout the entire period of time, only the bell tower remained in its original form.

Livadia Palace

The palace was built according to Moneghetti's design. Contributed to the creation of the building royal family, or rather Alexander II. Since the Yalta Conference in 1945, and to this day, the palace has served as a meeting place for heads of state. The building is surrounded by a beautiful park; the picturesque royal path will take you to the foot of another beautiful castle, “Swallow’s Nest”.

The castle was created in the Gothic style according to the design of the famous sculptor Alexander Sherwood. The Swallow's Nest is the heritage of the Crimean people.

Wuchang-Su Waterfall

Yalta is rich not only in beautiful human creations, but also in picturesque corners of nature. One of these places. The highest waterfall in Crimea, the length of the falling stream is 99 meters. The waterfall is located on a deep river, which takes its source from the peaks of Ai-Petri. The discharged streams of water replenish the water supply of Yalta. In the summer, Wuchang-Su practically dries up, which gives us another of the beautiful panoramas of the waterfall.

Lenin Embankment

One of the oldest streets in Yalta. and is filled with a series of attractions and places for cultural recreation. The architectural frame of the embankment is represented by slabs of polychrome, red granite and light gray porphyrite. Walking along the western part of the embankment, you will come across an amazing cafe, the appearance of which resembles an ancient Greek ship. Also from the embankment you can continue your journey around Yalta by cable car.

Ai-Petri plateau

For those who like to admire the beauty of nature, one of the most suitable places. You can admire the beauty of the Three-Eyes Cave and walk around grand canyon Crimea. reaches 1,230 meters above sea level. During the warm Crimean winter, the plateau is a wonderful place for skiing and sledding.

Now it functions as a museum for visiting tourists and vacationers. Household items, built-in furniture and mirrors have been preserved in the palace. In some parts of the castles, the original design of the walls and vaults has been preserved. The palace is surrounded by a luxurious park in english style. On an area of 42 hectares there are many fruit and pine trees, and beautiful flowers bloom under their crowns along the paths.

Massandra Winery

This company is on your lips if you are a connoisseur of Crimean wines. The history of the winery begins with Prince Golitsyn, a talented winemaker. The collections of wines produced here take prizes at exhibitions every year.
Excursions are held on the territory of the winery where you will be introduced to the royal cellars, where there are galleries of collection wines, some of which have aged over 100 years. After a walk through the cellars of the winery, you will be able to taste different wines and purchase the ones you like.

Botanical Garden

Nikitsky is one of the most memorable trips among the green treasures of Crimea. Every year at flower exhibitions the most beautiful inflorescences of tulips, chrysanthemums, irises and many other beautiful, green creatures are presented.

There you are short list what you can see in Yalta on vacation. Even if you come for 1 day, you will find something to keep yourself busy and entertained while visiting the sights of Yalta.

Reading reviews about Yalta on tourism forums, you most often come across such epithets as “the pearl of Crimea”, “heaven on earth”, “fairy-tale country”. Indeed, walking around this city, you often come across a feeling of the unreality of what is happening. Unique architectural structures, inscribed in picturesque subtropical landscapes, are very similar to fairy-tale castles. Architects and sculptors were so inspired by the local nature that the city of Yalta itself and its surroundings are, one might say, overflowing with attractions.

Natural attractions

When starting a conversation about Yalta nature, we must first say that the city owes its unique climate to the mountain ring that encircles it. From the north and east, the subtropical climate is protected from cold winds by the Yalta and Nikitskaya yayla (mountain plateau), and from the west by Mount Magobi. In a lowland on three hills is located “Big Yalta” - a kind of tourist metropolis, which includes the villages of Alupka, Massandra, Foros, Livadia, Gurzuf, Nikita and Oreanda. That's why a tourist will always have something to see both in Yalta itself and in the surrounding area.

Ai-Petri yayla and Mount Ai-Petri

This mountain range is known primarily for Mount Ai-Petri, the height of which is very easy for schoolchildren to remember - 1234 meters.

A 3 km long cable car leads to the top of the mountain from the village of Miskhor. After spending about twenty minutes, you will get the opportunity to enjoy a beautiful panorama of mountain valleys, forests, capes and other natural attractions of Greater Yalta.

After admiring the views and filling your phone’s memory card with photos, be sure to go down into the Priaipetrinskaya karst basin, in the very center of which go even lower - into the Geofizicheskaya mine.

This cave is unique in that you can observe a rare luminescent phenomenon there: rock formations after being hit bright light(for example, from a flashlight or flashlight) glow for some time. However, do not think that you are descending into dark, dangerous dungeons, because the cave is well lit and equipped with a spiral staircase.

Wuchang-Su Waterfall

The Uchan-Su River flows from the Aypetry Mountains, which translated from the Crimean Tatar language means “flying water”. The height of the waterfall is about 100 meters. To feel all its power and grandeur, you need to climb the stairs from the observation deck to the upper cascade.

Approaching the foot of the waterfall, you experience deja vu and only then remember that you have already seen this landscape on your monitor screensaver more than once. Often this is a personal photo of someone who has visited this beautiful waterfall.

There are other attractions in Yalta that you can see on your own. For example, history buffs will be attracted Mount Cat, where you can walk through the ruins of a medieval castle, see the single rock Red Stone with the ruins of an observation post.

It will also be interesting take a walk through the tunnel of the Dzhenevez-Kaya rock, which in tsarist times was planned to be connected by cable car to the sea cliffs of Adalara. And, of course, definitely wander the quiet coves of capes Sarych and Ai-Todor. In short, there are enough impressions for a whole book.

Architectural sights and parks of Yalta

Walking around Yalta and taking photos of the city, you will almost certainly see one of the local attractions in your frame. Uniquely beautiful nature V different times attracted here " powerful of the world this”: statesmen, aristocrats, entrepreneurs, for whom real architectural masterpieces were erected, surrounded by no less beautiful parks. That's why tourists always have something to see in Yalta and its surroundings, but it is simply impossible to see all the sights in one day or a week. Although you can always choose magnificent places for yourself, where it is pleasant to stroll along cypress alleys, walk along numerous sculptures, man-made canals and majestic fountains. Who, for example, has not heard of magnificence Massandra or Livadia Palace, I haven’t even seen the photos Swallow's nest? In short, if you wish, you can find many architectural sights of Yalta with photos and descriptions on the Internet.

I would like to dwell in more detail on Yusupov Park and Palace. This complex is perhaps the most expensive in terms of excursions, so tourists often choose cheaper options. But in vain, because Many interesting historical events are associated with the palace.

The Yusupov Palace was built at the beginning of the twentieth century on the site of the estate of Princess Golitsyna. It was the princess who laid out a park in this place with the rarest varieties of trees and flowers, and the architects of Prince Yusupov redeveloped the park, decorating it (as well as the palace itself) with many sculptures, some of which were specially brought from Venice.

During the Yalta Conference, the Soviet delegation was housed in the Yusupov Palace. Stalin apparently chose it because it contained a bunker in which the Generalissimo worked and spent the night. By the way, a festive dinner was held in the palace dining room in honor of Churchill and Roosevelt. Believe me An excursion to the Yusupov Palace is worth booking.

During his stay in the Yusupov Palace, Stalin slept in a bunker, covered with an overcoat.

Even if you're not a huge nature fan (though why go to Yalta then?), you should still visit Nikitsky Botanical Garden , Yalta Nature Reserve and Cape Martyan Nature Reserve. These are the sights of Yalta that are most interesting for tourists. Enough has been written about the Nikitsky Botanical Garden for you to go there with your whole family without hesitation. And after walking there, also go to the Cape Martyan Nature Reserve - it’s very close to the botanical garden. Here you will see the Crimean nature almost untouched by man and will be able to walk along the picturesque sea coast.

Museums of Yalta

In Yalta there is also something to see and where to go for a tourist who loves cultural recreation. Connoisseurs of A.P.’s creativity Chekhov can learn about the writer’s Yalta period, visit the office where “Three Sisters” and “ The Cherry Orchard" The guide will also tell you what Chekhov talked about in these rooms with Bunin, Kuprin, Levitan and Chaliapin, as well as how Mikhail Bulgakov worked on the writer’s archives at the Belaya Dacha.

One of the branches of the museum is located in Gurzuf, right on the seashore, where Chekhov had another small residence. In the same village you can visit the Pushkin Museum, where great poet and the writer worked on the poem " Prisoner of the Caucasus" And be sure to stop by Gurzuf Park to admire the “Night” fountain.

History buffs will be attracted by the museum, which contains an interesting exhibition of the ancient and medieval periods of Crimea. The guides will also talk about the tourist history of Yalta and show what the Yalta embankment looked like in different historical periods.

Where to go in Yalta with children

Many parents are wondering how to pick up their children from the beach during the period of greatest solar activity? You can, of course, give a useless lecture about the dangers of ultraviolet radiation or simply order the child into the room or at least under a beach umbrella. But with such methods you will simply ruin your vacation.

That's why It’s best to go with your child to the “Glade of Fairy Tales”, located in the suburbs of Yalta. This - fascinating open-air museum park.

The history of the park dates back to the 60s of the twentieth century, when the forester of the Yalta Nature Reserve Pavel Bezrukov began making fancy figures of Russian heroes from the trunks and rhizomes of fallen trees. folk tales and display them in front of your house. Today at the "Glade of Fairy Tales" there are more than 200 sculptures from different materials– from wood to plexiglass. So, if you are wondering how to tear your child away from gadgets at least for a little while and what you can see in Yalta with your child, then you should come to the Glade of Fairy Tales.

A few more steps and you're in Zoo "Fairy Tale". This is the first private zoo in Crimea, where since 1995 its creators managed to collect more than 200 species of animals, placing them in a habitat suitable for them.

Therefore, if you and your children have not been to Australia, here they will be able to see with their own eyes how kangaroos really jump. Believe me, this is not at all like in a regular zoo, where animals are limited in space.

And of course, everyone who comes to Yalta must go to Blue Bay water park, where visitors can enjoy 11 different water attractions (not counting the water bar), comfortable sun loungers, a cafe and a pizzeria.

Holidays for adults

Yalta has interesting attractions and entertainment for adults. First of all, this is, of course, winery "Massandra".

There you will not only be given a fascinating tour of the plant itself and the wine cellars, but also invited to the tasting room, where you can savor real Crimean vintage wine and purchase the varieties you like. Therefore, if you don’t like to sit in your room, you shouldn’t rack your brains about where, for example, to go in Yalta in the rain. Minibuses always run to the winery from the city center.

Well, in the evening you just need to go out Yalta embankment. Walking along the sea, you can choose entertainment for every taste - from a pleasant lunch in a summer restaurant with live music or an evening boat ride to expensive shopping and dance parties in one of the Yalta nightclubs.

What you can see in Yalta in 1 or several days

Those who decide to devote several days to getting to know the sights of Yalta need to develop routes to leave the city in the morning and return back in the evening. The following options can be offered:

Western route:

Eastern route:

  • from Yalta go to(about 20 minutes by transport), where you can go to the Chekhov Museum and the Pushkin Museum, stroll through the Gurzuf Park and see the Gorzuvita fortress;
  • visit Nikitsky Botanical Garden(about 13 minutes by transport or about 2 hours walk through Pushkinskaya embankment);
  • on the way to Massandra(about 30 minutes by public transport) visit the Massandra Palace, and then go for a wine tasting at the Massandra factory;

TOURISTS' ANSWERS:

But nevertheless, when you see the end result, you are amazed at the beauty and wonder why similar buildings are no longer built. Is the answer helpful?

When you come to Yalta on vacation, you can, of course, spend your entire vacation on the beach. However, this would simply be blasphemy to local attractions. What to see in Yalta? By the way, Big Yalta is not just a city, but rather a general name that combines a number of cities and towns on the southern coast of Crimea. These are Massandra, Livadia, Oreanda, Gurzuf, Miskhor, Gaspra, Koreiz, Alupka, Simeiz, Foros. I present to your attention a hit parade of places that you can’t ignore while in Crimea:

  • Bird home. I propose to unconditionally give the palm to the mysterious castle on the cliff. "Swallow's Nest" is the number one tourist attraction in Ukraine. It's no joke, a real medieval knight's castle is located on a steep cliff, rising 40 meters above the sea. On the territory of the castle there is a restaurant where you can dine while admiring the panorama of the Black Sea. You can get to Swallow's Nest by bus from the Yalta bus station, or by pleasure boat from one of the piers.

  • Small rolling road. From the very center of Yalta you can climb Darsan Hill in cozy carriages of a small cable car. A short trip will not take much time, but it will allow you to admire the beautiful views of the resort town and the ships scurrying in the Black Sea.

  • Big cable car "Miskhor-Ai-Petri". The cable car, which is almost 3 kilometers long, will take you to a height of 1153 meters above the level in 15 minutes with one transfer. The view of the entire Black Sea coast of Crimea will certainly not leave anyone indifferent. You can have lunch at open terrace restaurant located right next to the cable car. Delicious barbecue and wine accompanied by amazing scenery, what could be better? It can be windy at the top, so be sure to bring a windbreaker. If you are planning to ride the big cable car, please be patient; there may be a long line at the ticket office. You can go down from Mount Ai-Petri by minibus or taxi. The Ai-Petrinskaya highway is an entertaining serpentine road, and as one Yalta driver claimed, it makes 101 turns of 180 degrees.

  • Nikitsky Botanical Garden. The botanical garden is a well-groomed area filled with many different exotic plants and rare relict trees, and is divided into an upper and lower park. The cactus greenhouse and bamboo grove deserve special attention. In addition, seasonal exhibitions and expositions are held in the park. This place is ideal for collecting herbarium photos with children.

  • Massandra. To visit Crimea and not see with your own eyes the heart of Crimean winemaking, Massandra, would be simply blasphemy. Today, the tasting complex of the Massandra enterprise, known far beyond the borders of Ukraine, has opened its doors to everyone, offering a fascinating tour of the winery, a visit to the cellar gallery, an introduction to the wine-making process and, of course, tasting. While in Massandra, do not forget to visit the palace of Emperor Alexander III, it is quite remarkable for its architecture. Now there is a museum on the palace grounds, and enthusiastic guides willingly lead tours of the former imperial chambers.

  • Zoo and Museum "Glade of Fairy Tales" If you are traveling with children, check out the largest zoo on the coast, "Skazka"; it is located at the foot of the Stavri-Kaya mountain and is adjacent to an interesting open-air museum. In the open clearing there are sculptures of familiar fairy tale characters from childhood. The museum is called “Glade of Fairy Tales”.

  • Trolleybus line Yalta-Sevastopol. Have you ever ridden an intercity trolleybus? If not, then be sure to take a ride along the world's longest trolleybus route from Yalta to Simferopol. Although the length of the route is more than 70 kilometers, it is difficult to get bored along the way. The pictures changing outside the window along the mountain line are pleasing to the eye.

  • Cave cities. On the inner ridge of the Crimean Mountains there are 14 medieval cave cities. The most popular among tourists are Chufut Kale, Mangup Kale and Eski-Kermen. Each of them is beautiful in its own way, but from the point of view of entertainment, Eski-Kermen is the leader. This ancient city extremely unusual; the pit-earth storage system preserved from ancient times gives the impression of unreality. By the way, it was here that one of the episodes of Fedr Bondarchuk’s film “9th Company” was filmed.

I'll stop there. Of course, everyone who has visited Crimea will definitely find something to add to the above list, because this is a fertile region for tourists, where there is entertainment for every taste. All you have to do is choose the most attractive sites to visit and decide to join an excursion or sightsee on your own.

Is the answer helpful?

Big Yalta has so many attractions that probably a lifetime would not be enough to see them all. After all, Greater Yalta includes the villages of Livadia, Miskhor, Gaspra, Foros, Simeiz, Koreiz, Nikita, Ai-Danil, Gurzuf, Partenit, the city of Alupka... This is quite a large territory!

If you go to Gurzuf, you should definitely go to the Pushkin Museum, see Chekhov's "White Dacha", visit the Korovin House of Creativity, not to mention the amazing natural attractions.

In Livadia you can visit not only the Livadia Palace itself - the residence of the last Russian Tsar, and the adjacent park, but also see the recently opened monument in honor of the Yalta Conference of 1945 - the figures of the leaders of the "Big Three" Stalin, Roosevelt and Churchill, as well as go to the museum of artist Mikhail Pugovkin.

In Miskhor and Simeiz you can see centuries-old trees and tropical plants in parks - monuments of landscape gardening art. Well, in Nikita - the pearl of the South Coast, visit the botanical garden, which delights visitors with exotic flowers and unique trees.

You can climb to the top of Mount Ai-Petri, see the waterfalls and see the whole of Yalta in full view, from above from the cable car.

And Alupka, with its Gothic Vorontsov Palace and magnificent garden, will captivate even the most spoiled tourist.

To be in Yalta and not visit the Swallow's Nest castle means not to see Yalta, because this original building is the calling card of the Southern Coast of Crimea.

But even without leaving Yalta, that is, in the city itself you can see a lot of interesting things. Even just walking around the city, it is impossible not to come across some memorable place or attraction. Monuments to the poetess Lesya Ukrainka (on Ekaterininskaya Street), Pushkin and film industrialist Alexander Khanzhonkov (on Pushkinskaya Street), writer and screenwriter Yulian Semenov (at the Oreanda Hotel), the composition “The Lady with the Dog and Chekhov” (on the Embankment).

And how many famous people lived here - you can just walk around the city and study the places where great or popular writers, actors, singers lived!..

You should definitely go to the Chekhov Theater.

This is an ancient, restored, magnificent building with a cozy hall, with traditions, just a Mecca for all theatergoers. The Yalta Theater, unfortunately, does not have its own troupe, but groups from famous theaters in Moscow, theaters in Sevastopol and Simferopol, popular actors and musicians constantly tour here. International competitions and festivals are held here, including the famous "Theatre. Chekhov. Yalta", "Theatre. Debut. Yalta" and

"Folk without borders" The theater is located in the very center of the Embankment, very beautiful place, the hall is almost never empty, and during the season there are performances or concerts every day. Ticket prices start from 150 rubles.

Concerts of stars - performances by pop singers, KVNs, are held in Yalta in the Yubileiny concert hall, which is located near the Chekhov Theater, in Chernomorsky Lane.

Fans of Russian literature will be very interested in visiting Chekhov's house - favorite place fans of Anton Pavlovich. Chekhov was in love with Crimea and spent his last years lived in Yalta, wrote many stories and plays here. The museum is located in a picturesque garden; the house itself has nine rooms that can be visited by tourists. Conferences, exhibitions, concerts, Chekhov readings, and musical evenings are held here.

The museum is open every day except Monday and Tuesday, and is closed only on Mondays in the summer. Opening hours from 10.00 to 17.00. On Wednesdays the museum is open until 20.00. The museum is located at Kirova, 112, you can walk to it from the city center, but it is better to get there by transport - by trolleybus No. 1 to the Pionerskaya stop or by bus No. 8 to the Chekhov House Museum stop.

If you come to Yalta with children, then you will not be bored. There is a lot of entertainment for children in Yalta and there is also something to see.

A trip to the famous Glade of Fairy Tales will probably take you the whole day, and then you will want to come back here more than once. This is a unique open-air fairy tale museum at the foot of Stavri-Kai, where you can visit the living Baba Yaga, visit the kingdom of crooked mirrors, and get acquainted with many fairy-tale heroes, watch cartoons. "Glade of Fairy Tales" is open seven days a week, from 9.00 to 17.30. Travel by buses No. 115/26, 102/27 (from the Bus Station to the “Polyana Skazok” stop)

and minibus No. 24 (from the Spartak stop to the final one)

Ticket prices:

adult (children from 12 years old) - 200 rub.

children (from 6 to 11 years old) - 100 rubles.

children under 6 years old - free.

You can also visit the “Sea Aquarium” and the theater of marine animals “Aquatoria” with children, but personally I think that this is a dubious pleasure. Animals must live in natural environment habitat, in living nature, and not to tumble in chlorinated water for the public’s consumption.

But the famous Yalta Zoo "Fairy Tale" is probably worth a visit. This is not at all like a prison for animals; it is a place where animals live in conditions close to natural. They really love animals here, they take care of them, investing their soul and energy, it is allowed to feed the animals here, and on the “Granny’s Yard” you can even communicate with our little brothers in close proximity, because this part is the so-called petting zoo. You can get to Skazka by minibuses No. 24, 115, 102. In summer, the zoo is open from 9.00 to 20.00, in winter: from 9.00 to 17.00. Ticket price: Adult - 500 rubles, children - 250 rubles.

In short, in Yalta there is always something interesting to do for both adults and children. You won’t get bored here at any time of the year!

Today I want to talk about how I first came to Yalta. Ten years have passed, but time has no meaning in this story. My mother and I arrived in Crimea, bought tickets for a sightseeing tour. When the tour group was in Yalta, we had to pay money and join them. As soon as I unzipped the bag, I immediately realized that there's no wallet there. I was robbed, and my mother and I were left without money. Imagine, you can’t even buy some water!

Five years later I met a guy from Yalta. We started a relationship. Now I know the most interesting places this warm city, because every summer we let's go to his homeland.

  2. bird home. brick building, similar to a small castle, became business card Crimea. Find out for yourself what is special about it. You will take a sightseeing boat from the Yalta Marine Station to Gaspra.
  3. Panoramic restaurant hovering over the sea, Verdi bar restaurant(Primorsky Park, 1). If you do not like the standard recreation program, but want to enjoy comfort and beauty, you need to visit this restaurant. My advice - order champagne and fish dishes.

Why travel far when the Crimean one surprises with its beauty. And where to go - you will choose the route when you arrive in Yalta.

I have been to Yalta many times. When I came here for the first time, I was amazed by the nature: palm trees, mountains, blue sea! It seemed to me that I was in Turkey, and not in Crimea. After swimming to my heart’s content in the sea, I went to explore the local attractions. I'll tell you about the most amazing places that I remember.

Where did I go in Yalta

Since I love literature very much, in the city guide I immediately looked for attractions associated with great writers and books. Therefore, the first places I went to were the following:

  • house-museum of A.P. Chekhov;
  • historical and literary museum;
  • Memorial Museum of Lesya Ukrainka.

I’ll tell you in more detail about these wonderful museums.

Chekhov's House

When I saw A.P. Chekhov’s house, I gasped. It coincided so much with my ideas. Reading about Chekhov's life, I saw him as neat and sedate. Therefore, no matter how many times I come to Yalta, I still go “to visit” Chekhov every time. I really like his house, imbued with some special atmosphere. Looking at him desk, I imagine Anton Pavlovich, sitting thoughtfully with a pen in his hands... “He’s probably writing the next chapter of The Cherry Orchard,” I think...

Chekhov moved to Yalta for health reasons and lived here until his death. After his death, his sister took over the house and kept the furnishings in the rooms intact.

Yalta Historical and Literary Museum

There is a mysterious atmosphere unique to museums here. And it is created by ancient things, such as:

  • photos;
  • archaeological finds;
  • household items and treasures of ancient peoples;
  • valuable jewelry and coins.

With the help of these unique exhibits you can get acquainted with the ancient history of Yalta.

Memorial Museum of L.Ukrainka

Lesya Ukrainka is a famous Ukrainian writer who loved Yalta especially touchingly. And not only because the Crimean climate eased the pain in her bones, but also because Yalta gave her inspiration and strength.

The museum has a large exhibition telling about her creative life.

This year my family and I decided relax in Yalta, since I didn’t really want to go to foreign resorts, and the budget was very limited, there was a crisis, what can I say. On the very first day of our stay at the resort, we were faced with the question of What interesting things can you see in this city? Luckily, the people who stayed in the hotel next door to us were very nice and were happy to tell us about everything sights of Yalta.

What to see in Yalta

I’ll say right away that our vacation is in this beautiful city lasted for a couple of days, since there were many more attractions here than we could have imagined. All this is due to the fact that many interesting places in Yalta are not only in the city itself, but also in its vicinity.

Where to go in Yalta with children

If you are planning go to Yalta with children, then don’t think that they will get bored there. This city has many places that will delight and surprise your little ones.

First of all, I highly recommend taking your children to Zoo called "Fairy Tale". What I really liked about this place was that at the entrance they sold special food for specific types of animals, respectively, we could treat our little brothers without causing harm to their health.

Secondly, despite the fact that in Yalta has a sea, I advise you to go with your child to Atlantis water park. Everything there is aimed specifically at family vacations, and there are special areas for children, which are designed in the form of various children's cartoons. Also available children's aquadrome, which is called "Seven seas".

Approaching summer season, and many of you are already actively looking for vacation options. In this article I want to tell you about one thing amazing city, which is easy to get into, pleasant to relax, and simply impossible to forget. This is Yalta. It’s not for nothing that it is called the pearl of Crimea. This city became a real discovery for me. It clearly stands out from other Crimean cities.

And today I want to tell you why this city is worth coming to if you want to see all the most interesting sights of Crimea in a short time.

Holidays in Yalta: who is this resort suitable for?

I would like to immediately appeal to lovers of economical beach holidays: guys, look for another resort for yourself. If you just want to lie on a sandy beach for 2 weeks, choose Sudak or Evpatoria. It will cost you much less. In Yalta you can and should enjoy other things.

Despite the fact that this city cannot boast of ancient and medieval antiquities, like Yalta, in the 19th century it became the center of resort life in Crimea. Its excellent climatic conditions and picturesque nature attracted many aristocrats and simply influential people here, who in a short period of time built an entire ensemble of objects on the Yalta coast cultural heritage, and thereby left their mark on the history of not only the city, but also the peninsula as a whole.

By the way, a few words should be said separately about the history of the city.

History of Yalta: from brands to a lady with a dog

It is believed that the name of the city comes from the Greek word "Yalos", which means "coast, coastal". An ancient legend says:

Many centuries ago, the Greeks set off in search of new lands. The Black Sea greeted them unkindly, with storms and fogs (that’s why they called it the Black Sea, again according to legend). The sailors wandered for many days, not knowing where they were sailing. The ship ran out of fresh water and food. The team lost heart and meekly awaited death. But one morning the fog cleared, and people saw the long-awaited coast and green-purple mountains.

- Yialos! Gialos! - they shouted. Here, on fertile land, the Greeks founded a new settlement.

But archaeologists have not yet been able to find traces of a Greek settlement dating back to antiquity. But sanctuaries and remains of settlements were discovered brands . It was the Taurians who were the most ancient inhabitants of the Yalta Valley. Perhaps they were the indigenous inhabitants of Crimea, or perhaps they were representatives of tribes that retreated to Crimea from the Northern Black Sea region or from the Caucasus under the onslaught of the Scythians. However, the word “tauri” itself is Greek and was originally the name of a mountain range in Asia Minor, the continuation of which the Greeks considered both the Caucasus and Crimean mountains. Then the tribes there were also named by the same word. The Greeks called Crimea itself the “Taurian peninsula” - Taurida.

Then on these shores the Romans, Byzantines, Venetians, Genoese appear and disappear, replacing each other... In 1475, the Turks became the masters of the southern coast of Crimea. Yalta was part of a province that was in the personal possession of the Turkish Sultan.

In 1771, the first Russian troops arrived in Crimea under the command of A.V. Suvorov. They built a military fort in Yalta. By the time of the annexation of Crimea to Russia, Yalta was a tiny fishing settlement of 13 houses with a church and a mosque (just like that, 13 houses have both a church and a mosque!)

In 1823, Count M.S. Vorontsov became governor-general of the Novorossiysk region, which then included Crimea. In Yalta, he distributed 200 acres of land on the condition that the new owners would plant gardens and vineyards and actively engage in construction. An enterprising tsarist official, Vorontsov, created industrial wineries in Alupka and Massandra. At the direction of M.S. Vorontsov, roads were laid connecting the Southern Coast with Simferopol and through the Baydar Gate with Sevastopol, a seaport and a pier were built.

In 1838, Yalta received city status. However, over the next four decades, Yalta still remains a provincial backwater. All that the surrounding areas of Yalta consisted of in those days were tobacco and grape plantations.

Everything changed dramatically in 1866, when, on the advice of Professor Botkin, who was the first to appreciate the outstanding climatic features of the place, not far from Yalta, in Livadia, Empress Maria Alexandrovna began to rest in the autumn months. In the 70s of the 19th century, rapid construction began in the city. This was facilitated by the fact that the royal family acquired neighboring Livadia. Construction was finally completed in 1873 railway, which connected Crimea with both capitals of the empire. After Livadia became the royal residence, Yalta quickly began to transform. Following the titled persons, wealthy industrialists and merchants rushed to Crimea. Yalta is becoming a fashionable resort with fashionable hotels, shops, restaurants, hospitals and dachas.

This is exactly how Yalta appears to us in A.P. Chekhov’s story “The Lady with the Dog.” Here, in Yalta, the last five years of A.P. Chekhov’s life passed. Consumption did not allow him to live in a damp and cold climate. According to the design of the architect L.N. Shapovalov, he built two-storey house with a mezzanine, which was called “Belaya Dacha”. The artist I. Levitan, the writer Bunin, the in full force the troupe of the Moscow Art Theater came, led by Stanislavsky and V. Nemirovich-Danchenko. In Yalta, Chekhov wrote nine stories and two plays: Three Sisters and The Cherry Orchard.

Around Yalta, the new owners of the lands erected luxurious palaces, villas, mansions, laid out industrial gardens and vineyards, magnificent parks that still adorn the Crimean coast today: Massandra, Alupkinsky, Gurzufsky, Livadia and others.

In general, from this historical excursion attentive readers have already realized: there is something to see in Yalta!

What to see in Yalta itself

Massandra

Another place where it’s convenient and close to get out of Yalta. Tour of Massandra winery will delight all connoisseurs of Crimean wines. And a walk around park around Massandra Palace will give you pleasant memories and colorful photos to all tourists without exception.

We walked through this park on our first visit to Crimea. Even then, in late autumn, this place looked very beautiful!

At the same time we visited the beautiful Vorontsovsky (Alupka Palace). Unlike the Massandra Palace, which rather resembles a cozy Vacation home, Vorontsov Palace looks like a medieval knight's castle .

The adjacent park is a worthy rival to the Nikitsky Botanical Garden. But if Nikitsky Garden will amaze you with a riot of colors and a variety of vegetation, including exotic ones, collected from almost all over the world, then Vorontsovsky Park looks more restrained and less artificial. And this, perhaps, is the genius of its creator, the famous gardener Karl Kebach. The park looks very well-groomed, but at the same time very natural; it organically fits into the complex terrain, as if created not by the hand of a master, but by nature itself.

To be honest, I liked walking around Vorontsovsky Park more. It’s somehow calmer in there, or something. In general, it’s closer to me in terms of energy)

bird home

I’ll just add that TC “Yalta” -all year round“There is an evening excursion to this site. And there they will not only tell you amazing facts about this place, but they will also treat you to Crimean wine. It’s a pity that we didn’t have time for this evening departure - we were in Bakhchisarai that day (which, of course, we were also pleased with, and I talked about this in the article)

The palace in the village of Livadia was a summer residence for imperial family. Thanks to this palace, Yalta became the favorite resort city of the Empire. This is where the Sun Path, the favorite place for walks of the emperor, begins.

Palace in Italian style was built at the end of the 19th century. Died in this palace Alexander III. Nicholas II came here with his family. And during the Second World War, the Livadia Palace became the venue for the famous Yalta Conference. During Soviet times, a sanatorium was opened on the territory of the palace. Only since 1993 has a museum been opened in the palace.

The cost of visiting the palace is 350 rubles. Excursions take place at a time based on the size of the group. This was the reason that we did not visit the palace, but limited ourselves to external inspection and a walk in the park around it. It’s just that we still had a climb to Ai-Petri planned for that day...

Ai-Petri

We did not have time to climb this mountain on our first trip through Crimea. Then they flew at a gallop across Europe. But this time we got to it. I want to write a separate article about this mountain - my impressions of it cannot be contained in a couple of paragraphs. Therefore, in this article I will simply say this - people, do not do as we do! On the same day, having visited the Nikitsky Botanical Garden and the Livadia Palace, we also set our sights on Ai-Petri. You need to set aside a separate day for this! It's worth it.

When going to Ai-Petri, take something warm - the wind turbine on the mountain blew away the but! And we were told that this is not a rare occurrence.

You can get to the top of Ai-Petri in different ways:

  • on your own by car
  • by cable car from Miskhor
  • walking along the hiking trails leading to the top

They all have both pros and cons... In short, wait for a separate post about Ai-Petri, friends!

Other sights of Yalta

Generally speaking, in Yalta there is also zoo , And dolphinarium , And Museum "Glade of Fairy Tales" . But, to be honest, visiting them was not part of our plans. Firstly, I personally don’t like animal shows, and we didn’t have children with us. Zoos where animals sit in cages don’t interest me much either. And that’s why I can’t write anything about these tourist sites.

But now I remember how on our last evening in Yalta we went to an organ music concert in Church Holy Mother of God . Catholic Church on Pushkinskaya street, house 25, was built in 1906 in the traditional Western European style. We noticed this building on the first day, when we were walking along Pushkinskaya Street towards the embankment. We came up, read the sign, and saw a poster - once a week there is an organ concert in the church. Ticket price is 350 rubles.

And also there, on Pushkinskaya street , I liked just walking, sitting in cozy cafes with a cup of aromatic coffee...

Generally, Yalta is exactly the city where I would like to stay when coming to Crimea. Both the city itself and its surroundings are practically one continuous attraction. Therefore, this list of what is worth seeing in Yalta can be continued indefinitely. And now, on the eve of the season, I plan to write several more articles about interesting places in the vicinity of Yalta.

And enjoy your travels!
