Flowers in glycerin production technology. How to make beautiful flower arrangements that will never wilt. Selecting okved and completing documentation

Is there a way to extend the life of fresh flowers? Are a few days in a vase really all they have? There is a solution! We will tell you how to preserve flowers in glycerin so that they will please the eye for a long time.

This treatment cannot be called drying, because flowers in a bottle with glycerin absorb a substance that replaces water in their tissues. Glycerin gives leaves and inflorescences elasticity and preserves colors. Preserving flowers in glycerin is an opportunity to admire them for several years! Flowers may change color over time. For example, eucalyptus leaves turn blue-green, while roses turn brown or dark green.

Canning Rules

Before storing flowers in glycerin, they must be properly prepared. If the plant is evergreen, then it can be cut at any time, and deciduous ones are harvested in August-September. Cut them at an oblique clean and sharp knife. Flowers should be immediately immersed in water to prevent them from drying out. Stems that are too hard need to be split a little with a knife so that the liquid is absorbed better. Please note that some plants immediately after cutting release sticky juice that clogs all channels. Such stems must be held over the fire so that the ends darken.

Time to start canning!

We will need:

  • boiling water;
  • glycerol;
  • flowers;
  • decorative bottle or light bulb.

1. Dilute glycerin in boiling water in a ratio of 2:1. Pour this solution over the flowers placed in the container so that the solution completely covers them.

2. As the plants absorb the solution, glycerin must be added. The duration of preserving flowers in glycerin with your own hands, a master class for which we offer, depends on the type of plant. It may take anywhere from a week to eight months!

3. When the flowers are no longer saturated with the solution, place them in decorative bottle, refill with glycerin and seal with a lid. An amazingly beautiful interior decor element is ready!

The beauty of these flowers is captivating. I would love to receive such a gift, what about you?

Wow! Now you know how to make an enchanting crafts made from fresh flowers, it's very simple and so interesting. You can make a magical living bouquet together with your child, and you can give it for almost any occasion. In this way it will be possible to preserve forever what is especially dear to the heart.

Any beautiful bouquet, especially if it was given to you on some significant day, you really want to keep it longer. It is clear that even if you use various tricks (and, of course, there are such), you can prolong its freshness for some time, even in a vase. But this time period will not be particularly long. Therefore, in order to preserve flowers longer and significantly, tenfold, increase their storage time, you can preserve the flowers you like in glycerin. They will be stored there for a very long time. In glycerin, any flowers hardly change their appearance. They will still be as flexible. True, the color of the flower itself will definitely change a little.

It is clear that for such canning we will need some kind of beautiful transparent glass container. Such jars with flowers can be placed anywhere in the future. They will fit perfectly into any interior and significantly decorate it. In addition to the flowers preserved in this way, you can also arrange homemade ones. If you combine everything correctly, it will certainly add more positive points into the overall look of your home (or maybe office) interior. But, do not take too young shoots for canning. The foliage of such shoots is very poorly preserved in glycerin. There are no other more serious restrictions for preserving flowers using glycerin.

What is needed for this?

In fact, you will need very few components for this, one might say, a minimum. It is clear that the flowers themselves contain glycerin. And besides them, water, where we will dilute this glycerin, and any transparent containers. They can be glass or plastic. The main thing is that they have lids. And it’s better to choose low containers so that small flowers in them do not float to the very top. As for the flowers themselves, it is best to choose those whose stems and leaves are quite thick. Those flowers whose foliage is thinner have their own original appearance They don't preserve it that well.

How to save? The process of preserving flowers in glycerin

You need to start by preparing the containers. First you need to wash them well. After this, you can put the flowers themselves in them. At the same time, they can be placed in any order, that is, arbitrarily. After all, when you pour liquid over them, they will definitely mix. If the flowers are light enough, they will probably float. The flowers themselves, before you place them in the jar, should be prepared. To do this, a cut is made on the stem diagonally, all the leaves at the bottom are removed, and the skin on the stem or bark is split about 6 centimeters. Thus, the glycerin solution will be better able to penetrate into the preserved flower.

Stage number two involves preparing the solution itself, which we will use to fill the flowers in the future. To do this, we will need 3 parts of boiling water, into which we will need to pour only one part of glycerin. When you do this, simply mix the solution well, and you can calmly wait for it to cool to about room temperature. After this, we can already fill our flowers with it.

Most likely, the flowers will be arranged chaotically in the solution. To arrange them the way you want, take tweezers or a thin stick and “arrange” them in place. After this, the jar can be closed with a lid. Further, only your imagination works. That is, the container itself can be decorated in any way you like. You can tie multi-colored ribbons under the lid, add dried flowers, or apply any other decorative elements.

Change the glycerin solution. Why do you need to do this?

When you finish decorating the container with flowers, you can put the jar in its place. It will take about 2 weeks, the flowers will be completely saturated with glycerin, and the solution in the jar will quite possibly become cloudy. This is due to the pollen that is preserved on the flowers and the flower sap. To correct the situation and make the solution transparent again, simply drain it from the jar and replace it with a new one. When replacing the solution, it is better to rinse the flowers themselves well. After this, the solution will no longer become cloudy, and the flowers will retain their appearance, which was at the stage of changing the solution.

Another tip for decorating the lid of your container. If you decorated it with pieces of fabric, then saturate them with any essential oils, the aroma of which is especially pleasant to you.

As for the promised video master class, here it is. Look.

Flowers are the perfection of nature, they delight and decorate our home. Unfortunately, their beauty is fleeting; they quickly fade and wither. There are ways to help preserve the pristine quality of your favorite bouquet for many months or preserve your favorite plants. As a result of special techniques, plants remain almost unchanged, retaining their shape and color. Imagination and creativity will help you create exclusive compositions from stabilized flowers that do not require soil, watering or fertilizing.

Today we will talk about available methods for preserving plants for bouquets.

What plants can be preserved

Everything can be preserved, let’s name only the most suitable plants, remaining unchanged: these are crocosmia, camellia bromeliad, aralia, ficus, aspidistra, meadowsweet, bergenia, gladiolus, iris, hosta, June peony, gypsophila and molucella with flowers.

To create compositions, branches of shrubs are often used, which are prepared in a glycerin solution, for example: silver poplar, hawthorn, blackberry, juniper, dogwood, ligustrum, barberry. Semi-dry, mature, large specimens with thick stems lend themselves especially well to this treatment. The mild effect of glycerin makes it possible to apply it to almost everyone flowering plants, such as, for example: hydrangea, rose, daisies, chrysanthemums, orchids.

Preservation with varnish

This method does not require time and special effort, is considered the most simple trick stabilization, it is enough to have a bottle of varnish. Bouquet of fresh flowers, which you want to keep, is treated with strong hold hairspray. Then it is hung down with buds, away from radiators and the sun. It should be kept in this position until completely dry for 7-10 days, the period depends on the size of the inflorescences.

The disadvantage is increased fragility, brittleness and the creation of conditions for delicate handling. In the future, it will not be possible to remove dust or change the arrangement of colors. To eliminate these shortcomings, you need to first evaporate the moisture: place the bouquet in silica gel or sprinkle with semolina and dry sand. I leave it in this state for a week and then treat it with hairspray.

Preservation with wax

Fast and effective method- this is the use of wax. To work, you will need long tweezers and two containers: for immersion in the solution and for cooling. The wax needs to be melted in a water bath, then, holding it with tweezers, dip the flower in warm solution. The procedure is carried out quickly and consists of alternately immersing all parts of the plant, starting with the bud. Then, to fix, you need to cool in a wide bowl with cold water, it’s better to take a basin or bucket.

After such treatment, the stem, leaves, and inflorescence retain their natural color and keep their shape well. They can be easily cleaned from dust deposits with a brush, but become sensitive to ultraviolet radiation, so this quality will need to be taken into account when placing them.

Preservation of plants with glycerin

A time-tested method that always gives positive results- This is preservation with glycerin. It is harmless and non-toxic, and is freely sold in pharmacies.

To work, you need to prepare filtered (soft) water and glycerin. The solution is prepared using heated water, which needs twice as much (1:2). The flower stems are immersed in the cooled glycerin concentrate. Before this, they need to be trimmed correctly: the plane of the oblique cut should be large (2-3 cm). To improve the absorbency, it is recommended to make additional notches and stretch the end of the stem to a length of 4-5 cm. In this state, the flowers are placed in a dark room and kept there for 15-20 days, the recommended temperature is +18...+20. It is important not to forget to check the liquid level and, if necessary, top up with the previously reserved part of the solution.

This “impregnation” helps displace water from tissue cells. As a result, all the moisture is evaporated, and the dry mass, saturated with glycerin, increases, which ensures the elasticity of the entire plant. The completion of the process can be judged by the formation of glycerin droplets at the tips of the petals and leaves - this is a sign of readiness. The solution is drained, the stem legs are lightly washed and wrapped paper towel for one day to eliminate excess concentrate.

As a result, you will get a preserved flower with glossy leaves, a plastic stem, and a natural inflorescence. Plants prepared in this way are placed in vases without water or filled with dry sand.

Caring for bouquets of canned flowers

To preserve compositions and bouquets of canned flowers, you need to follow simple rules:

Avoid direct sun exposure, which causes discoloration;

Avoid contact with water, this is especially dangerous for buds and leaves;

Do not install in damp areas;

Wipe only with a dry cloth or soft brush;

If dark formations appear, use a damp sponge cloth, then dry with a paper towel.

I saw several times in programs about renovation and interior decoration how designers used “eternal” flowers. They looked like they were alive, did not require any care and looked very natural. Tempting?

I asked a friend, an interior designer, and she said that her clients do not like the unfading buds, calling them “mummies of flowers.” Most people love fresh flowers, but preserved plants are considered energetically unsuitable.

Let's figure out what kind of “flower mummies” we are talking about?

1. Orchids in glycerin

Evergreens can be cut at any time, flowers, naturally, at the time of their bloom. You need to cut the flower stem obliquely and immediately place it in water. If the stems are too hard at the ends, split them for better absorption of liquid. In the meantime, prepare the “brine.”

For canning, take:

  • Glycerol
  • Boiling water
  • Decorative bottle

Place the flowers in the bottle. Dilute glycerin in boiling water in a 2:1 ratio. Fill the flowers with this solution so that the solution completely covers them.

The plants will gradually absorb the liquid, so a mixture of glycerin and water will need to be added. The duration of the procedures depends on the type of plant: from a week to seven months. Then the bottle will need to be sealed. Glycerin preserves the color and elasticity of flowers.

2. Stabilized flowers

They are suitable for those housewives who love flowers, but do not like to care for them. You won’t be able to make a bouquet of these flowers yourself. Complex technology. And buy in major cities It’s quite possible: they cost from 500 to 15,000 rubles.

As reported on the website of the founder of Vermont stabilization technology, flowers do not require watering or care, are not afraid of low light, tobacco smoke, are environmentally friendly and safe. Bouquets last from 4 to 8 years, trees up to 10 years.

Flowers at the factory are sorted by hand and placed on pallets. Then these sheets with plants are dipped into a mixture of alcohol and special chemicals. After this procedure they lose color and become very fragile. To give them their original softness, the flowers are embalmed (they are saturated with a special glycerin-based solution). They are painted at the same time.

To be honest, I didn’t really like the look of these plants; anyway, their color is somehow dull and not natural.

3. Sublimated bouquets

The latest hit of newfangled interiors is sublimated flowers. This is a new thing for Russia.

There is also not enough information about this type of flower decorations yet. On some Russian websites, dry freezing of flowers (or lyophilization) is offered as a business idea. True, they stipulate that cryo-installations are currently only available in the USA, and in some research institutes here, and they are not cheap. After dry freezing, flowers do not lose shape or color.

In the United States, the most popular frozen plants are rose petals. They are very often used for weddings and interior decoration for lovers. Among our designers, bouquets and flowers in pots are popular, which do not require any care for several years.

How do you feel about “timeless” flowers?
