Review of the Estet company: ideal door designs in the catalog and in the photo. Telescopic casing: dimensions, photos, installation Telescopic system for installing door frames and trims

Now I will install the extension on this door. The accessory will be telescopic. For those who don't know, here it is in cross-section.

This is the groove. There is a groove in the additional strip. And on the cash there is this thorn. Cashing has this profile.

Why was this done? When we place an additional amount, the cash is inserted into it. And we can adjust the distance within this pass. About one and a half centimeters.

Now, if for example, this distance is not 8 centimeters, like here. And there from 5 to 15 millimeters, we can cash out immediately without additional charges. This box is certainly not telescopic. This door has been installed for a long time. This is a simple box. In general, telescopic boxes contain passes here. Immediately so that the cash can be mounted there.

Where do I start installing the addition. First I saw off to height. First I trim the bottom, then here I make a mark with a stationery knife and saw it off 1 millimeter shorter.

Then, I take a square and measure this distance from the box to the edge. And add more depth to the groove. In this case it is 1 centimeter. And I make markings on the reverse side. Here's the line.

Well, here we need to take into account that you need to saw off from the side where it will be inserted into the box. Because this region cannot be spoiled. Well, here I expect the additional strip to be about a couple of millimeters less than the plane of the wall itself. Because it doesn't matter here. I can adjust these 2-3, even 5 millimeters with this cashing spike. If there are ordinary additional strips, then on the contrary, I make the width of the additional strip 1 millimeter larger. For what? So that there is enough cash in any case. And you need to measure. The walls are not always level, so I measure at several points. Well, at about 4. Up, somewhere here and down.

If the wall is approximately flat, you can do it at 3 points. And thus I adjust the left and right additional strips. Then I mount the top one on top of them, directly on them. I saw off the whole thing with a jigsaw. You can use a circular saw to cut some parquet or a mini-circular saw. I mark the top bar like this.

Here I put it like this, so that this edge of it is before the beginning of the groove. Here I also mark, right in the groove. Just a knife and that's it. Then I turn it over and put it in like this. And here we make marks as if in width. Because there are different left and right edges. This is how we make marks. Here and here. Like this.

And then I draw and cut.

Installation of the extension

So, now that all our inlaid planks are prepared and sawed off, we install them in place.

This is where the plane coincides. I check it with my fingers.

So, here is a right angle and up to the groove. This is what we get.

Like this. Why do we need to do this here? So that when we insert cash, nothing sticks out here or gets in the way. And this corner will tighten up, and that’s how it will be. Here he is.

It should be. This plane also coincides. Here she is. Here too. Everything matches.

In the case when, for example, a gap forms in this corner. Well, there is no foam there, for example, to rest against. This is where I drill and screw in screws. They seem to be a stop, and they prop up this entire corner. That's all. Now we will mount them. To do this, first I will wet this thing so that the foam will move away better. It expands more evenly.

Because foam expands when exposed to moisture. So, let's take the foam. And with these cakes I go through the entire perimeter.

Now I take the wide masking tape from me. And I fix the gain. I make sure that there is a right angle.

And so on around the entire perimeter. This is how I recorded it all. After about one hour, you can already withdraw everything and put it in cash. I will also do the same procedure on this side. From the edge and from above. That's it, the supplies will be ready. This fastening is quite sufficient. There is no load here. No mechanical fastening is required here. All this stuff is ready. You can say it will freeze now and that’s it. Propenil, fixed it.

Why do I do it with dots like this and not all over? Two reasons. Firstly, saving foam. Secondly, it is a guarantee that the extensions will not be squeezed out by an arc. Because the foam has room to expand into free space. That's all. The selection is done. This is done briefly within 10-15 minutes. Now I'll do some additional work on the other door. During this time, the foam will cool down and you can start cashing out.

Cashing installation

Our selection has frozen. I trimmed the foam and removed the tape. Now I will bet cash. But I will place it here at an angle of 45 degrees.

In general, telescopic cashers are installed, as a rule, cut like this at a right angle here. And from above the cash goes here, like this.

But, since this door has cashing already installed like this. This means that you need to do the same on this side too. How to mark. So I take it and put a half mark here with a knife. Like this. That's it, I'll cut it here and here.

I put the top one first. Then I also place the vertical ones overlapping like this. This is how I put it and make a mark. This is how she stands, for example. And I did it again.

So once again I put a mark. Here she is, you can barely see her. And I cut everything off. First, of course, you need to trim the bottom, and then I applied liquid nails here on this edge. Right here. Here on this road edge, like this.

Here, here and along the entire length. And I'll slam her. Because if you glue the entire groove. This glue will fill everything, and it will be almost impossible to remove it. It’s already tight there and you just need to fix it a little. You can apply glue here. Directly on the wall, several points. It would be enough.

We put everything in. Maybe a little between them.

We install everything.

So, this is what we got in the end. This is the corner.

Here you can tint it with a pencil so that the seam is not visible. It won't rush into the gas too much. And here it is, that's all. Everything is clear and beautiful. Now I’ll show you how to do the markings. Here I put it, the knife like this.

All. There is a mark. Now we take the mark like this, here. And we hold the knife at a right angle and move it. That's it, now you need to cut it diagonally. That's it, it goes to trimming. The truth here is that because there is a groove, it becomes crooked. I'm just placing a piece of wood here to the thickness of this distance.

I put it here and it sits evenly. And I saw off.

Well, this is what we got in the end. Such a bonus. Black, hard to see, well, nothing. Now I'll show you up close.

Everything is tight, everything is smooth, no cracks. This is the node. That's it, the door is absolutely ready.

The door casing is designed to perform one function - to block the usually unsightly connection between the door frame and the opening in the wall. Simply put, this is a flashing that plays an exclusively decorative role - the doors will work without it, but they will at least look unfinished. Also, doors have an unfinished appearance, the frame of which in width does not coincide with the thickness of the wall in the opening of which they are installed - a wide frame can still be cut, but extending a narrow frame will only be detrimental to the appearance. This issue is solved in two ways - the box is either equipped with extensions, or a so-called telescopic platband is used, which will be discussed in this article, in which, together with the website, we will look at its features.

Telescopic trim on the door photo

Telescopic casing: what is it and how does it work?

This type of casing is practically not similar to the telescopic things that are familiar to us, and it can only be called such only conditionally - yes, it performs its functions of increasing the width, but it does not do it exactly as the concept “telescopic” implies. It does not extend - it would be more correct to say that it extends or is adjustable. At its core, this is an ordinary corner, one shelf of which, during installation, is placed in a groove at the end of the door frame - by seating the telescopic door frames in the groove, you can insert it deeper or shallower. It is due to this that the increase occurs, or more correctly, the overlap of the missing part of the door frame occurs - in fact, it is a platband combined with an additional strip.

There are two types of similar products that can easily solve the issue of lack of door frame width - these are standard telescopic door frames and, so to speak, their extended version.

In principle, both versions of such products fully cope with the tasks assigned to them - as you understand, they differ from each other only in their purpose and the presence of accessories for doors. But these are not all types of telescopic platbands - they can additionally be classified according to two more criteria, which we will talk about later.

What are telescopic platbands: types

The signs mentioned above, according to which telescopic frames can be divided into two more groups, are nothing more than the material from which they are made, as well as their size.

In principle, this is all that can be said about the types of telescopic door frames.

How to install telescopic trims: installation nuances

To better understand the essence of this issue and in order to avoid unnecessary problems, let’s consider the technology for installing these products using the example of an expanded version of the telescopic platband. Point by point, this process can be represented as the following sequence of work.

This is the simplest way to install a direct telescopic casing. Ask why straight? Yes, because there are also their arched counterparts, the purpose of which is to close the gaps between the opening and arched doors or simply arches.

And to conclude the topic about telescopic casing, a few words about the nuances that may or may not arise during their installation. Basically, there is only one. Quite often, problems arise with the strike plate, the self-tapping screws of which simply interfere with the installation of the telescopic casing. There are two ways out of the situation - in these places, in the shelves of the platband inserted into the groove, you can make small cutouts, or you can remove everything that gets in the way and install it again after installing the platbands. The second option is preferable, since along with the canopies and the strip, the screws will simultaneously fix the platband.

Previously, installing trim for an interior door required certain measurements, patience and accuracy, but even this did not guarantee the correct and even installation of these decorative elements; in those days they did not know about the additions at all. However, modern solutions and competition in the market have a positive effect on the development of production, due to which from time to time some innovations appear on the market that qualitatively improve doors and the process of installing them in a doorway. Everyone knows what interior doors are, however, not everyone understands what interior door extensions and telescopic trims are. In this article we will dwell in more detail on each concept separately.

Telescopic platbands for interior doors
In the design of any room, everything should be perfect, especially the interior door. It is she who meets and sees off guests; it is the doors that are the first piece of furniture that a person entering a room sees, which means that the interior of the room will be primarily associated with the front door. Far from the last element of interior door decor are the platbands.

The platband is a decorative functional element with which the connection between the door frame and the walls of the room is hidden. They also decorate the doorway, framing it around the entire perimeter, except for the threshold or floor. Depending on the installation method, there are two types of platbands:

  1. Traditional overhead trims
  2. Telescopic trims

Overhead trims are mounted using fasteners and glue. They are simply placed at the intersection of the door frame and the wall and secured. Their main disadvantage is the complexity of installation. Considering the fact that the platbands are simply applied, they can move in different directions relative to the door, thereby disturbing the geometry and appearance of the doorway.

Telescopic trims have a special design that does not allow them to move relative to the door, thereby maintaining the ideal geometry of the doorway, moreover, their installation is much simpler and does not require the use of additional tools and measurements. The design of telescopic platbands is ingeniously simple - there is a fastening ledge on the platband, which is located at an angle of 90 degrees to it. It is this protrusion that is inserted into a groove specially made at the factory in the door frame, thanks to which the platband perfectly follows the contour of the door and is installed without any problems.

When installing telescopic trims, pay special attention to the fact that the door hinge fasteners will intersect the grooves. In these places, the fastening protrusion on the platband is removed to the required depth using a milling cutter or similar cutting tool.

Advantages of interior doors with telescopic trims:

  • Platbands are quickly and easily installed
  • In some cases, platbands are an excellent solution to avoid the installation of extensions
  • Platbands hide all inconsistencies between the wall and the door frame
  • This design makes the platbands easily removable. For example, they can be removed during repairs in order to properly and efficiently hang wallpaper or carry out painting work.
  • Telescopic platbands do not require fasteners or glue, as a result - there are absolutely no traces of attaching the platbands to the doorway

Accessories for interior doors
Sometimes the installation of an interior door is complicated by the fact that the wall is wider than the door frame, and after installing the door, the inside of the opening remains uncovered. To seal this part, many people use plastic or seal the opening with plaster. However, there is a more acceptable, simpler and aesthetically beautiful way to seal the internal opening that remains uncovered by the door frame - install door extensions.

The door extension is a wooden panel that is a continuation of the door frame and connects it to the platband, thereby hiding the remaining surface of the doorway underneath. The extension itself is essentially an extension of the door frame to the platband. If the door frame is equipped with telescopic platbands, then the extension must be appropriate - with a special groove for installing a telescopic platband.

Advantages of installing door panels:

  • This decoration of the doorway favorably emphasizes the doors as a separate element of the interior and is as practical as plastic or plastered slopes
  • If damaged, they can be easily replaced without the need for extensive repair work.
  • They are more resistant to mechanical damage than plaster

Extensions are often sold complete with a door structure. If they are not included in the kit, don’t worry! There are a great variety of different accessories on the market, from which you can choose the ones you need. When choosing an accessory, you need to pay attention to their color, texture and shade of color. The extensions should be in the same color scheme, which will create the impression of a single door structure. When choosing an extension, be sure to take into account the type of platband; if you have telescopic-type platbands, the extension must be equipped with a special groove for installing this structural element.

The choice of door finishes during installation was limited just a few decades ago. Now you can choose any platband for this interior element. Manufacturers produce a wide range of products, and a strictly defined platband is suitable for a specific task. They have several differences: in material, installation method and purpose. A telescopic casing will be an interesting solution for any interior.

Types of platbands

The platbands of entrance and interior doors are distinguished according to the functions they perform: decorative or structural. The latter aim to close the gap formed between the wall and They are installed directly on the box. Decorative ones create visual aesthetics, creating a harmonious transition between and the wall.

Wooden frames

Even with all the variety of materials, wood has not lost its significance. It is environmentally friendly and versatile. Platbands made from it are suitable for any type of box. The advantages of wooden elements include the possibility of further restoration, namely painting, puttying, varnishing, etc. More often, the telescopic casing is made of wood.

MDF platbands

These elements have a beautiful appearance and most often they imitate wood. MDF coating can be different, but basically it is paper laminating. This outer layer is very sensitive to moisture, so it is not advisable to wash it, since even a slight ingress of moisture, for example, when washing the floor next to the door, can worsen the appearance of the platband.

Platbands made of plastic

Plastic has only recently been used as a material for platbands, but has already gained popularity. This happened due to its moisture resistance and low cost, as well as the variety of colors and shades.

Ceramic trims

Ceramic door frame elements are a specific option that is often used when decorating the entire room with a stone look. Therefore, they are decorative in nature, and their popularity is low due to limited use.

Telescopic casing: features

Telescopic-type trims got their name because of the way they are attached to the door frame. They are curved planks along their entire length. One of the edges is bent at an angle of 90 degrees and forms an “L” shape in cross section. This curved edge will be mounted into the groove of the door. The telescopic mount allows you to adjust the width of the door frame to the width of the wall within 8-15cm.

The standard width of the box is 7 cm, and the walls are often several centimeters wider, so special extensions are used that expand the telescopic platbands.

Telescopic casing: advantages

  • Quick and easy installation.
  • Telescopic structures avoid the use of additional elements such as extensions.
  • Platbands perform their function well, hiding the joint formed between the frame and the wall.
  • They are easily dismantled, which allows you to carry out repair work without fear of damaging the casing. Upon completion of the work, the telescopic trims are simply installed in place.
  • There are no traces of installation, since telescopic options do not require fastening elements - nails or glue. Sometimes platbands can be glued, but this must be done carefully: fix the part that is attached to the wall, and not the joint itself with the door groove.

The only downside of telescopic platbands is their high cost compared to other options.

The telescopic platband, the photo of which is presented below, just like simple platbands, can have a flat, rounded or shaped shape.

Installation features

Sometimes doors are produced with ready-made fittings, including trim. This eliminates possible errors and shortcomings during installation. The technology allows you not to use special types of fastenings. Installation of telescopic platbands in this case is much easier.

Telescopic doors initially require a groove for mounting platbands. These grooves allow installation even on walls that are not vertically aligned. This is achieved because the molding fits tightly to the surface. The telescopic panel can be an addition to the platband; it is attached to it with a special veneer and allows you to give an aesthetic appearance to an opening of any thickness.

The design of telescopic platbands does not allow them to move in relation to the door, so a single geometry is maintained. Installation of such platbands does not require additional measurements and tools.

Craftsmen often ask the question: how to install telescopic trims? Even an inexperienced person will find it easy to handle the installation if he has an understanding of the design of the door frame and the functions of the platbands. The type will not play a big role in this case.

When installing telescopic trims, special attention should be paid to the place where the door hinge fastening elements intersect the grooves. In this case, the protrusion of the casing must be cut to the required depth with any available tool.

Before installing any platbands, you should make sure that the walls are level. Otherwise, a gap will form between the platbands and the wall, and this will inevitably spoil the appearance.

The telescopic platband, the dimensions of which depend on which opening should be refined, is produced with a width of 6-8 cm. The length of two parts is 220 cm, and the size of the top is 120 cm. The shelf, which is inserted into the groove, can have a width from 1 to 4 cm .

Conclusion

Installing platbands on an opening is an important matter, which requires maximum accuracy of measurements and accuracy during the installation process. By observing these conditions, you can achieve a high-quality result, which will guarantee the uniqueness and completeness of the interior. If you are installing a box containing all the necessary elements in its kit, then you need to carefully read the instructions provided by the manufacturer - this will prevent incorrect installation or damage to the decorative elements.

Installation of interior doors involves several stages of various work. The first thing you need to do is buy an interior door, then install it. However, it doesn’t end there, because you need to make sure that this element fits harmoniously and decorates the interior. At this moment, platbands (slopes or cashing) come to the rescue. Now the market is represented by various types and models of such decorative elements. In today's article, I want to talk about interior telescopic trims and overhead (regular) ones. I will try to explain how they differ and what advantages they have.

Why are they needed?

Before we get into the types of platbands, or as they say in everyday life, slopes (cash-outs), let’s figure out what they are and why are they needed? Platbands are strips that are installed around the perimeter of the door frame. They are made from various materials and have different shapes. The last one is the most expensive option. The main function of the platbands is to hide the gap between the wall and the door frame, as well as to complete the entire door structure. They resist drafts and retain heat. They perform a significant decorative function. A well-chosen shade can significantly transform the interior. According to the method of installation, the following types of platbands are distinguished:

  • regular or overhead platbands;
  • telescopic platbands.

Ordinary platbands

The most common type, based on the installation method, are overhead trims (slopes). To install them and hide the gap between the door frame and the wall, nails, screws, glue or sealant are used. Using these means, the slopes are attached to the wall. This type has gained great popularity due to its ease of installation, and even before, few people knew about the telescopic system.

Telescopic trims

Telescopic platbands are a more complex design. Such slopes do not need to be nailed, glued, screwed or sealed. Two strips on the outer and inner sides of the interior door are perfectly fastened together using an original L-shape. One edge of the slope has a rounded shape; it fits tightly to the plane of the wall. The second one is bent, and during installation it fits tightly into the groove of the door frame, which allows it to be firmly connected to it.

Advantages of telescopic platbands

In addition to differences in the installation method, there are still a large number of possibilities and advantages of telescopic platbands compared to conventional (overhead) options.

  1. The use of telescopic platbands allows you to avoid installing extensions for interior doors. However, this is only if the thickness of the door frame does not exceed 1.5-2 cm. They will easily close the gap between it and the wall.
  2. Telescopic slopes can be installed not only on the door frame, but also on the extension strips.
  3. If the wall is crooked, then you will be able to level the interior door. However, when using overhead or regular platbands, the gap between the door frame and the wall will be simply huge. You will have to level the walls, or watch a not very pleasant picture. Otherwise, the door will be installed crookedly, and its position will be fixed, that is, it will constantly either open or close. In the case of telescopic trims, this error can be easily hidden. Thus, the interior door will be installed level, and a large gap will not be visible.
  4. Another advantage of telescopic platbands is that the joints between the planks are less noticeable, and the installation itself does not require any additional means.
  5. Telescopic trims can be dismantled without damaging them. This will be more difficult to do with regular slopes.

To summarize, I would like to say that overhead platbands are very popular. This can be explained by the fact that they are not expensive and everyone is used to them. However, in my opinion, the choice of telescopic slopes will be much more relevant. The possibilities that this type of cashing brings with it are much wider than with conventional slopes. Currently, there are many different models and materials from which they are made. Anyone can choose something for their interior.
