How to get hemorrhoids. What to do to prevent hemorrhoids during sedentary work. The causes of the disease are various, consider the main ones

Rumor has it that this is a common disease - haemorrhoids, so that each of us does not think and reconsider our lifestyle: this will help to avoid problems with treatment, which can even be surgical and very painful.

What causes hemorrhoids?

Everything is good in moderation. Those who neglect this simple wisdom may find sad adventures in their lives. This is a painful dilatation of the veins of the anus and rectum. It develops most often in the form of individual nodes, cones - oblong or spherical in shape. They are located in a ring inside the intestine or outside the anus: the so-called internal and external hemorrhoids are distinguished. Hemorrhoids can most often be “earned” by leading a sedentary lifestyle and sitting in a chair for too long.

Additional risk factors for hemorrhoids

But what if you go to the other extreme - don’t sit, stand for a long time? You also risk getting hemorrhoids! So, by doing cycling, horse riding or rowing, we... again increase the likelihood of developing the disease. By the way, if you constantly carry weights, you can easily get problems with hemorrhoids! Too spicy food and alcohol abuse will not do you any good. A cause for concern should be a tendency to frequent loose bowel movements or, conversely, chronic constipation, and in any case, the toilet should not be turned into a reading room. Even your wardrobe needs to be treated with constant attention, and belts and belts that are too tight should be excluded from it.

The health of a pregnant mother requires special care, because her body has to work for two. Rarely anyone manages to withstand such a load without consequences!

Considering that most of us do not look away from the computer for hours, like to have a drink or two, and are forced to carry overfilled bags from the store, the problem of hemorrhoids is by no means rare.

Signs and symptoms of hemorrhoids

Statistics estimate that 40% of patients who consult a doctor with complaints about their intestinal condition suffer from hemorrhoids. And according to proctologists, up to 70% of the population face this problem from time to time.

The cause of the development of rectal disease is stagnation of blood in the pelvis. The cavernous bodies, filled with blood, located in the final part of the rectum, increase in size and gradually become deformed, forming hemorrhoids.

Recognizing the disease is not difficult. It is accompanied by painfully unpleasant symptoms. It is not without reason that hemorrhoids are usually called a serious problem at work or in life. The patient is haunted by a feeling of discomfort, a sensation of a foreign body, itching, burning in the anus. If you ignore the problem, as usual, it gets worse - pain appears after defecation, bleeding, swelling in the anus, prolapse of hemorrhoids.

Hemorrhoids: will folk remedies help?

It all depends on when the patient came to his senses. Anyone who has endured bleeding and pain can no longer do without medical help. Moreover, you need to contact a specialist as quickly as possible in order to avoid serious, sometimes even dangerous, complications.

Well, those who became concerned at the first unpleasant symptoms (ideally, thought about prevention) can cope with the problem on their own. The main thing is to be guided by the constant rule: everything is good in moderation.

"Folk" remedies for the prevention of hemorrhoids

  • If you have a sedentary job, then spend at least five minutes per hour, let alone getting up and moving around.
  • Don’t carry heavy things, it’s better to walk extra than to load too much.
  • Try to drink at least 6-8 glasses of water, juice or weak tea per day. Coffee and alcohol are not the best choices.
  • Don't get carried away with spicy seasonings and snow-white buns. Let your menu include more fresh vegetables and fruits, and choose bread from wholemeal flour.
  • Tighten your waist with exercises, not corsets and tight belts.
  • Do not read, talk on the phone or smoke in the toilet. And spend as much time as possible walking in the fresh air.

And don’t let your life test the strength of your “fifth point”!

Hemorrhoids are a common disease characterized by dilation of the veins of the rectum, the appearance of hemorrhoids located inside the anus or outside.

What not to do to avoid getting hemorrhoids

You can get hemorrhoids even at a young age. In order not to encounter such a problem as hemorrhoids, you need to know what you can do and what you can’t do.

So, the factors that cause hemorrhoids:

  1. Sedentary lifestyle. Most professions involve a sedentary lifestyle. These are professions such as programmer, economist, driver. In the digital age, almost everyone has a personal computer. Real life is increasingly being replaced by virtual life. While sitting at a personal computer, time flies quickly and unnoticed. And when sitting for a long time, the blood in the pelvis stagnates. It is the stagnation of blood that provokes hemorrhoids.
  2. Poor nutrition. Women often indulge in varied diets. With an incorrectly selected diet, the functioning of the stomach is disrupted. Men often sin to eat something fatty, spicy and harmful. This poor diet has a detrimental effect on the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract and you may face the problem of constipation.
  3. Constipation. Most often they worry about poor nutrition, insufficient fluid intake, and also worry women during pregnancy and before menstrual periods. Diarrhea, like constipation, can cause hemorrhoids. Excessive straining, characteristic of indigestion, is a factor in the occurrence of the disease.
  4. Pregnancy. During pregnancy, the fetus puts pressure on the walls of the uterus, which increases pressure on the pelvic organs. And during childbirth, the woman pushes hard to push the fetus out. Therefore, hemorrhoids often worsen after the birth of a child, but with timely and proper treatment, exacerbations can be avoided and cured in the initial stages.
  5. If you are into anal sex, you injure the mucous membrane of the rectum.
  6. Hereditary factor. Statistics show that the risk of hemorrhoids is greater if someone in the family has already encountered this unpleasant illness. However, this does not mean that it will definitely occur to you. You can reduce the likelihood of the disease occurring by following the rules of prevention.
  7. Lifting heavy objects. If your job involves lifting weights or you are seriously into weightlifting, then it is quite possible to get hemorrhoids. Due to increased pressure in the abdominal cavity, the likelihood of node prolapse increases.

How to cope with the disease

Not everyone knows how to cope with the disease and what exercises can be done for hemorrhoids. While sitting in a minibus or at your workplace, squeeze and unclench your gluteal muscles, as if you were pulling your rectum inward. This is absolutely not noticeable to others, and by doing such simple exercises, you will strengthen the sphincter muscles.

If you have hemorrhoids, sitting in one place for a long time is simply contraindicated. "Movement is life." One cannot but agree with this. In order to be healthy, take 10 to 15 thousand steps during the day. For hemorrhoids, a good exercise would be: walk with your knees high and place one leg in front of the other crosswise. Don’t forget to tense your gluteal muscles while walking like this. This exercise can be performed in the office after two hours of work to prevent blood stagnation in the pelvis and strengthen the sphincter muscles.

Currently, more and more yoga adherents are appearing. Most yoga exercises will help eliminate the symptoms of the disease and normalize blood circulation. For hemorrhoids, it is recommended to make a “birch tree”. This pose will relieve you of constipation and help avoid blood stagnation in the pelvis.

Swimming is one of the most useful sports for illness due to the fact that during swimming the load on all muscles is distributed evenly, without putting pressure on the pelvic area. You can go to the pool at any age.

Prevention of disease

As you know, prevention plays an important role in the treatment of the disease. It is designed to prevent the causes of the disease. The causes of the disease are what can cause hemorrhoids. Knowing what not to do reduces your chances of getting hemorrhoids.

Prevention is as follows:

  • a sedentary lifestyle leads to stagnation of blood in the pelvis. Therefore, it is recommended to take a short break every two hours; just 5-10 minutes of your time spent on warming up will help prevent illness;
  • get rid of bad habits such as alcohol, smoking;
  • Healthy food. Try not to overindulge in spicy and salty foods, eat more vegetables and fruits, foods containing fiber that help normalize the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract, drink more water;
  • do not forget about personal hygiene. After each act of defecation, wash with cool water; it is better to replace hard toilet paper with softer one;
  • It is not recommended to sleep on a soft mattress that sinks under the weight of the body; soft office chairs should be replaced with harder ones. These measures will prevent blood stagnation;
  • do not lift heavy objects;
  • avoid foods that cause constipation or diarrhea;
  • walk more. After or before work, get off at the stop earlier and just take a walk;
  • get rid of the habit of “reading a newspaper” by retiring to the toilet. Sitting on the toilet for a long time contributes to the development of hemorrhoids;
  • When defecating, try not to push too hard. If it doesn't work out now, it will work out later.

Half of visits to doctors regarding bowel problems are related to hemorrhoids. Doctors believe that due to a sedentary lifestyle, this “shameful” disease, as is commonly believed, is becoming more common and will soon cease to surprise anyone. How to prevent the development of a “shameful disease” - hemorrhoids, read our article.

Remember, if you spend more than 8 hours a day sitting, are not into sports in any form, or don’t have a dog that needs to be walked, then it’s time to make inquiries about a good proctologist practicing in your city.

But let’s not overdramatize and try to figure out how to avoid the problem or identify ways to solve it.

What does hemorrhoids mean?

Hemorrhoids are folds of the mucous membrane of the anal canal. They perform the absolutely necessary function of retaining feces and, in a state of rest, blocking the anal canal of the intestine. However, with stagnation of venous blood or with excessive physical activity, the blood supply is disrupted, the size of the hemorrhoids increases, and they protrude outward.

Anyone who can get hemorrhoids:

  • leads a sedentary lifestyle;
  • suffers from constipation, obesity;
  • excessively addicted to alcohol;
  • at the table he indulges in smoked, spicy, salty, spicy foods;
  • indulges in anal sex;
  • has inflammatory diseases in the pelvic area;
  • engages in serious sports such as lifting weights, shot put or jumping; mows, chops, carries heavy loads - in short, plows like a horse.

You should immediately consult a doctor if you experience the following: symptoms:

  • bleeding during bowel movements;
  • traces of blood in stool;
  • itching or burning in the anus;
  • sensation of a foreign body or prolapse of nodes from the rectum;
  • pain when defecating, walking or sitting, hemorrhoids are painful to the touch.

To prevent hemorrhoids or their exacerbation, it is necessary to combat constipation, diarrhea, limit, or better yet, exclude alcoholic drinks and spicy foods from the diet. It is impossible to overestimate proper nutrition in treatment, with a sufficient amount of coarse plant fiber, fermented milk products and consumption of at least 1.5 liters of water per day. An active lifestyle will help maintain good blood supply to the pelvic area.

First of all, you need to remember that you should not self-medicate. Only a competent proctologist will determine the stage of the disease and recommend an adequate treatment method. Hemorrhoids can be cured permanently if treatment is started at the onset of the disease.

Treatment with rectal suppositories and ointments for hemorrhoids (which ones are determined only by a proctologist), along with the above methods of prevention, copes well with pain and itching, inflammation and swelling, blood supply improves, and the general condition of the patient changes for the better. If you methodically and patiently follow all the doctor’s instructions during this period, you will not have to switch to another method of treatment - surgical, more or less traumatic.

About 40% of the adult population suffers from hemorrhoids. This pathology is equally common in both men and women. But animals do not have hemorrhoids. The first cause of sciatic pain in humans is upright posture. What matters is the load on the pelvic floor muscles, worse speed qualities, slower peristalsis and metabolism in general. And four-legged animals eat more intelligently - they do not drink alcohol, do not consume hot seasonings, and do not eat smoked and canned foods with stabilizers and preservatives. All these crackers and chips are difficult to absorb, and even more difficult to eliminate. That is why the prevention of hemorrhoids and other proctological diseases must begin from childhood, by teaching the child a culture of nutrition.

Embarrassment is to your detriment

Why patients wait until the last minute is a mystery. When it comes to health, there is nothing to be ashamed of. Of course, a proctological examination is an unpleasant procedure for the patient, but there is practically no pain. Sigmoidoscopy is performed using a special device and is easily tolerated and without pain relief. The clinic has equipment that allows you to take pictures of the problem area of the intestine, after which there is no need for repeated studies. Colonoscopy is a more complex examination, it is carried out to examine the entire colon and in some cases is absolutely necessary.

Rectal bleeding is dangerous

Hemorrhoids do not pose an immediate threat to life. However, both in the early and late stages of the disease, they significantly reduce the quality of life, cause anxiety and discomfort. Hemorrhoids can become large, fall out and become pinched, causing severe pain. A person suffers from itching, discharge, and cosmetic discomfort.

But rectal bleeding is another matter. They can become not only a sign of hemorrhoids, but also a more serious disease, such as rectal cancer. Over the past decade, this malignant neoplasm has become more and more common. Therefore, if bleeding occurs, and even worsens, do not delay a visit to the proctologist.

Treatment of hemorrhoids

The clinic provides surgical treatment of hemorrhoids using the only device beyond the Urals (see photo on the portal), which allows using ultrasound to find the vessels carrying excess blood to the hemorrhoids and bandage them. The method is called disarterization of hemorrhoids (see video on the portal) . The operation with minimal trauma and when treated in the early stages of the disease is performed on an outpatient basis, i.e. the patient goes home on the day of surgery.

At a more pronounced stage of the disease and, if a cosmetic effect is necessary for pronounced external hemorrhoids, additional lifting seams, performed radio wave ablation (gluing) nodes during one procedure.

The operation is performed under medical sedation (intravenous, superficial anesthesia), during which local anesthesia is performed, which allows pain relief to be achieved in the early postoperative period.

In advanced cases, an operation is performed radical hemorrhoidectomy , which solves the problem forever. Since 2006, such interventions have been performed in our clinic ultrasonic scalpel OLYMPUS. The operation is bloodless and lasts 10-15 minutes. Minor tissue trauma allows you to reduce disability in the postoperative period, reduce pain and speed up recovery.
