What is the effect of Trittico tablets. Trittico and alcohol what will happen. Side effects of Trittico

To the question what kind of drug trittico was asked by the author Alexander Dmitriev the best answer is pharmachologic effect
Antidepressant. Trazodone, being a triazolopyridine derivative, has a predominantly antidepressant effect, with some sedative and anxiolytic effects. Trazodone has no effect on MAO, which distinguishes it from MAO inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants.

The mechanism of action of trazodone is associated with the high affinity of the drug for certain subtypes of serotonin receptors, with which trazodone enters into an antagonistic or agonistic interaction depending on the subtype, as well as with the specific ability to cause inhibition of serotonin reuptake.

Quickly affects mental (affective tension, irritability, fear, insomnia) and somatic symptoms of anxiety (palpitations, headache, muscle pain, frequent urination, sweating, hyperventilation).

Trazodone is effective for sleep disorders in patients with depression, increases the depth and duration of sleep, and restores its physiological structure and quality.

Trittico stabilizes the emotional state, improves mood, reduces pathological craving for alcohol in patients suffering from chronic alcoholism during the period of alcohol withdrawal syndrome, also in remission. For withdrawal symptoms in patients suffering from dependence on benzodiazepine derivatives, trazodone is effective in the treatment of anxiety, depression and sleep disorders. During remission, benzodiazepines can be completely replaced by trazodone.

Helps restore libido and potency in both depressed and non-depressed patients.

The drug is not addictive. The neutral uptake of norepinephrine and dopamine has little effect.

Does not affect body weight.
Dosage
The drug is taken orally 30 minutes before meals or 2-4 hours after meals. The prescribed dose of the tablet should be taken whole, without chewing and with a sufficient amount of water.

Adults are prescribed an initial dose of 100 mg 1 time / day after meals before bedtime. On the 4th day you can increase the dose to 150 mg. Subsequently, in order to achieve the optimal therapeutic effect, the dose is increased by 50 mg/day every 3-4 days until the optimal dose is reached. A daily dose of more than 150 mg should be divided into 2 doses, with the smaller dose taken after lunch and the main dose before bed.

The maximum daily dose for outpatients is 450 mg.

The maximum daily dose for inpatients is 600 mg.

When treating impotence, in the case of monotherapy with the drug, the recommended daily dose is more than 200 mg, with combination therapy - 50 mg.

When treating benzodiazepine dependence, the recommended treatment regimen is based on a gradual, sometimes over several months, reduction of the benzodiazepine dose. Each time, reducing the dose of benzodiazepine by 1/4 or 1/2 tablet, 50 mg of trazodone is simultaneously added. This ratio is left unchanged for 3 weeks, then a further gradual reduction in the dose of benzodiazepines is started until they are completely discontinued. After this, reduce the daily dose of trazodone by 50 mg every 3 weeks.

For elderly and weakened patients, the initial dose is up to 100 mg/day in fractional doses or 1 time/day before bedtime. The dose may be increased under medical supervision, depending on the effectiveness and tolerability of the drug. Usually no dose exceeding 300 mg/day is required.

Children aged 6-18 years: initial daily dose of 1.5–2 mg/kg/day, divided into several doses. If necessary, the dose is gradually increased to 6 mg/kg/day at intervals of 3-4 days.

Trittico is a drug that is recommended to be taken in the presence of alcoholic depression that develops during prolonged use of alcohol-containing drinks. The manifestation of a depressed state negatively affects a person’s quality of life. The bleakness and foggy future forces people to sip on a glass and return to a state of intoxication, in which problems and hardships remain “somewhere out there”, and a state of apathy sets in.

It is especially difficult for those who are trying to fight the dangerous attraction to alcohol. Along with sobriety comes unreasonable anxiety, insomnia, restlessness and excessive irritability. All these symptoms must be eliminated.

As a rule, in the case of alcoholic depression, antidepressants are used; Trittico is one of the drugs in the antidepressant group. It reduces cravings for alcohol and at the same time has a calming effect on the patient. The entire range of actions and indications contains instructions for use with Trittico.

Under no circumstances should you take medications on your own, without visiting narcologists and psychologists! This is fraught with dangerous consequences. Get examined in specialized clinics, doctors will write out a treatment plan in detail and give recommendations.

  • Cipralex.

The cost of Trittiko's analogues is significantly lower than the original, but they do not have the efficiency that Trittiko is able to achieve in a short time.

Using medication with alcohol

It is strongly recommended not to drink alcoholic beverages while taking Trittico. Alcohol provokes an increase in blood pressure. The tablets have the opposite effect, as a result of which there is a danger of developing hypoxia. Severe dizziness is a symptom of hypoxia, which can make a person faint.

In addition, the simultaneous intake of these two substances slows down the oxidation of alcohol and leads to acute intoxication of the body and destruction of liver cells.

The effect of the drug will be weak due to relief from alcohol. Treatment will bring virtually no result other than harm.

Remember, even a drop of alcohol will return you to your original position and you will have to start treatment again!

During pregnancy (and lactation)

Persons suffering from liver dysfunction of various types should take with caution.

The medicine Trittiko is available in the form of tablets, which are white in color with a yellowish tint. They have an oval shape. There are two parallel cutters on both sides of the tablet. Each contains 75 mg of trazodone hydrochloride. The excipients are: magnesium stearate, polyvinylpyrrolidone, carnauba wax and sucrose.

The medicine Trittiko, even with long-term use, is not addictive. It does not promote weight gain and is neutral in the uptake of dopamine and norepinephrine.

The main feature of the drug Trittico is the rapid effect it has on mental (fear, irritability, affective tension, insomnia) and somatic manifestations (symptoms) of anxiety (muscle and headaches, sweating, palpitations, frequent urination, hyperventilation). This drug has a positive effect on sleep disorders in those people who are depressed. Trittico reduces waking time. At the same time, the quality of sleep in patients improves.

This drug also perfectly stabilizes the emotional state and improves mood. It is also effective in treating withdrawal symptoms in those patients who suffer from dependence on derivatives such as benzodiazepine and trazodone. In addition, this medicine helps restore male strength. Regardless of whether patients suffer from long-term depression or not.

Indications and contraindications, side effects

  • disorders of potency and libido, including those caused by depressive states;
  • benzodiazepine dependence;
  • depressive states accompanied by high anxiety due to diseases of the central nervous system (Alzheimer's disease, dementia, cerebral atherosclerosis);
  • alcoholism;
  • psychogenic depression;
  • disturbance of the emotional state due to prolonged pain syndrome;
  • alcoholic depression.

Trittico should not be used in the following cases:

  • lactation period;
  • pregnancy;
  • high sensitivity to the main and/or additional components of the drug.

Persons who drive a vehicle should take this drug with special care, since loss of concentration is possible.

Trittiko medicine is not prescribed for children under 6 years of age. It is prescribed with caution when:

  • atrioventricular block;
  • history of episodes of priapism;
  • ventricular arrhythmia;
  • myocardial infarction;
  • post-infarction period;
  • arterial hypertension;
  • liver failure;
  • heart problems;
  • renal failure.

This drug does not have an anticholinergic effect, so it can be prescribed to elderly patients who have angle-closure glaucoma, prostatic hypertrophy or cognitive impairment. This medicine will not affect the course of these diseases in any way.

It should be borne in mind that Trittico has side effects that may occur while taking it. They appear as follows:

  • drowsiness;
  • bitterness in the mouth;
  • increased fatigue;
  • orthostatic hypotension;
  • hypotension;
  • allergic reactions in various parts of the body;
  • paresthesia;
  • headaches, asthenia;
  • severe dry mouth;
  • arrhythmia;
  • dizziness;
  • increased arousal;
  • anorexia;
  • myocardial conduction disorders;
  • pain;
  • disorientation;
  • myalgia;
  • neutropenia;
  • nausea;
  • diarrhea;
  • tremor;
  • eye irritation;
  • bradycardia;
  • priapism;
  • leukopenia;
  • decreased blood pressure;
  • lack of coordination;
  • vomit.

The dosage of the drug is prescribed depending on the patient’s condition and his illness. However, it must be selected by the attending physician after a thorough examination of the patient. The results of blood tests are important. After all, if a person has a deficiency of leukocytes, then taking this drug in a large dosage can aggravate the situation, since it helps reduce their number.

You cannot use this medicine at your own discretion, or after reading reviews of other people who provided recommendations for its use, since this drug provides a special and individual treatment regimen, where the dosage is first gradually increased and then gradually decreased in order to minimize the occurrence of side effects and improve effectiveness of the drug.

Alcohol and medicine Trittiko

For alcoholism, Trittico is often prescribed, the instructions for which provide special recommendations for the treatment of such an illness. After all, it is quite serious and requires increased attention. Thus, during the treatment of alcoholism, it is necessary to completely abstain from alcoholic beverages, since they lead to an increase in blood pressure, and the drug Trittico can sharply reduce it, which can cause hypoxia - a lack of oxygen in the body. The patient may feel a worsening condition. He may experience dizziness, weakness and loss of consciousness.

Another danger of combining the use of Trittico and alcoholic beverages is the slow oxidation of alcohol in the body. As a result, it will accumulate, which can lead to poisoning. In addition, serious problems with the functioning of the central nervous system will arise. The person will feel lethargic, speech will slow down, and orientation in the world around them will be lost. Moreover, if you do not stop drinking alcohol, your breathing will worsen and your impairment of consciousness will worsen. All this can lead to irreversible consequences, and coma is possible.

Another danger of simultaneous intake of alcohol and Trittico lies in the disruption of the liver. This drug is excreted from the body primarily through this organ. Therefore, even a small dose of alcoholic beverages can sharply worsen the condition of the liver and lead to its intoxication. In some cases, more serious consequences are possible. A person may experience severe toxic hepatitis.

It must also be said that drinking alcohol in the treatment of alcoholism or other diseases will not lead to the patient’s recovery. All therapy that was carried out using the drug Trittico will come to naught. As a result, the patient will need to begin its passage again. At the same time, the manufacturers of the drug recommend taking it during the period of remission in order to get the best effect from the treatment. But here it is already necessary to reduce the dosage of the drug; the optimal one must be selected by the attending physician.

If your health worsens (sore throat, fever, etc.) or if Trittico medication is ineffective, the patient should immediately consult a specialist. He will conduct an examination, prescribe additional tests, and then adjust the treatment regimen.

Trittico tablets should be taken with particular caution for the following diseases:

  • Kidney and liver failure.
  • Arterial hypertension.
  • Atrioventricular block.
  • History of priapism.
  • Myocardial infarction.

Caution should be exercised when taking these tablets after a recent heart attack, as they may adversely affect the functioning of the heart.

Trittiko tablets do not have an anticholinergic effect. This means that it can be taken even by older people. The drug does not adversely affect the body in cases of prostatic hypertrophy and closed-angle glaucoma.

But still the medicine has its side effects:

Most of the above side effects occur due to excessive use of Trittico, that is, an overdose.

Instructions for use

To avoid side effects of Trittico tablets, the correct dosage must be observed. Usually it is prescribed by a doctor individually, depending on what disease needs to be cured. The attending physician must first conduct a thorough examination of the patient.

Much depends on blood tests. If a person has a deficiency of white blood cells, a large dosage can only worsen his health, since the drug will further reduce the number of white blood cells.

Under no circumstances should you take Trittico on your own. Everything is strictly individual. When starting to use this drug, the dosage is usually increased and then reduced. Thus, it is possible to avoid many side effects of taking the medicine.

Features of taking the drug:

  • The initial dose for adult patients should not exceed 150 mg per day, twice daily.
  • It is advisable to use the tablets before bed, as they may cause severe dizziness.
  • If necessary, the doctor will recommend increasing the daily dose by another 50 mg. The maximum daily dose for outpatients should not be more than 450 mg, and for inpatients – 600 mg.
  • Elderly people and immunocompromised patients should not take more than 75 mg of the drug per day.
  • For mild forms of depression, you can take a prophylactic drug of no more than 150 mg per three days with two-day breaks.

For alcohol dependence, it is recommended to take the drug half an hour before meals or a couple of hours after meals. The minimum dosage is 100 mg once a day. Gradually, the doctor may increase the amount of the drug. The tablet should be consumed whole, without chewing and with plenty of water.

Efficacy of the drug

The main feature of Trittico tablets is that the effect is achieved very quickly - for most people. Fear, irritability, insomnia, and chronic headaches cease to bother the patient. The time spent awake is significantly reduced, and the quality of sleep actually improves.

An excellent effect also manifests itself, if necessary, in stabilizing the patient’s emotional state and improving his mood. The drug is highly effective in treating withdrawal symptoms in people dependent on benzodiazepines. The medicine helps restore male strength.

In 50% of patients, the positive effects of Trittico tablets appear within 2-3 days after regular use of the drug. But 25% see the effect of using the drug only after two weeks.

Some patients experience progress only after four weeks of taking Trittico. In this case, everything is very individual.

Many patients are interested in whether it is possible to combine taking Trittico tablets with alcoholic beverages. No, this is strictly prohibited. Alcohol increases blood pressure, and medication can dramatically lower it. As a result, all this can lead to the development of hypoxia, that is, a lack of oxygen levels in the body. The patient will immediately feel very bad - he will experience severe dizziness. The person may even faint.

If you take alcoholic beverages and this medicine at the same time, slow oxidation of alcohol will occur in the body, which can lead to serious poisoning. Sometimes problems arise with the central nervous system. The patient becomes lethargic and lifeless. If you do not stop drinking alcohol, the situation may worsen. Breathing disorders and coma are possible.

The danger of simultaneous use of alcohol and Trittico tablets lies in the destructive effect that occurs on the patient’s liver. The drug is eliminated from the body through this internal organ.

Drinking alcohol can lead to a sharp deterioration in liver function and its complete intoxication. More severe consequences are also possible - the patient may develop toxic hepatitis in a complex form.

Doctors definitely say that simultaneous consumption of Trittico and alcoholic beverages cannot lead to the patient’s recovery. All therapeutic treatment will not bring any positive results. The effect of the tablets will be stopped by alcohol.

As a result, the patient will have to undergo treatment again. In this case, it is recommended to take the medicine during remission. But the dosage should be reduced after consultation with your doctor.

Signs of pathology

Characteristic signs of depression are decreased self-esteem, apathy and deep indifference to your life and the world around you. Quite often, a depressed person develops an addiction to alcohol and drugs. However, this method does not solve the problem and does not remove the cause of depression, but only relieves the symptoms. In addition, the use of alcohol and drugs aggravates a person’s mental state, making him lost.

Depression as a mental disorder can be found more often among women; men rarely become victims of this disease. People between 18 and 55 years of age are at greatest risk of becoming depressed, but in rare cases, the onset of the disorder may occur earlier or later.

Kinds

The disease is divided into certain types depending on the reasons for its occurrence:

It is necessary to treat depressive disorders, as the lack of help can lead to consequences in the future. This will not only seriously affect a person’s overall health, but can also develop into more serious mental pathologies. The pharmaceutical market offers a wide selection of drugs aimed at treating and relieving symptoms of depression. Among them, doctors often prescribe Trittico, an antidepressant trazodone, a triazolopyridine derivative. The drug creates an antidepressant effect, simultaneously having an anxiolytic and sedative effect on the body. Reviews about "Trittico" abound.

Mechanism of action

Unlike tricyclic antidepressants and MAO inhibitors, trazodone does not affect monoamine oxidase. The action of trazodone is due to the high degree of affinity of the drug for certain types of serotonin receptors. Trazodone interacts with them agonistically or antagonistically, and also has the ability to cause serotonin reuptake blocking. This is confirmed by the instructions attached to the drug "Trittico".

The drug has a rapid effect on symptoms of mental and physical anxiety, such as irritability, insomnia, fear, affective tension, headaches, palpitations, frequent urination, hyperventilation, sweating and muscle pain.

"Trittico" effectively relieves sleep disorders, increasing its duration and depth, as well as positively influencing its quality and physiological structure. In addition, in chronic alcoholics during the period of abstinence, the drug is able to normalize the emotional background, elevate mood, and reduce cravings for alcohol. The drug is effective in the treatment of depressive disorders in patients who are dependent on benzodiazepine derivatives. During the remission period, trazodone should completely replace benzodiazepines. Another effect of the drug is to increase potency and libido. Moreover, patients who do not suffer from depressive disorders can use the drug for this purpose.

According to reviews, Trittiko does not become addictive. It does not affect dopamine and norepinephrine uptake or weight gain.

Compound

One tablet contains 150 mg of trazodone hydrochloride and excipients (sucrose, lovidone, carnauba wax and magnesium sterate).

The drug has a high degree of absorption from the gastrointestinal tract. The drug cannot be used with food or immediately after, as this slows down absorption. The active substance is metabolized in the liver. 75 percent of metabolites are excreted through the kidneys. Complete elimination of the drug from the body occurs within 98 hours after administration.

Indications

Indications for prescribing Trittico tablets are:

  1. Anxiety and depressive disorders of endogenous type. This also includes involutional depression.
  2. Neurotic and reactive psychogenic depression.
  3. Depressive disorders as a consequence of pathologies of the central nervous system: atherosclerosis, Alzheimer's disease, dementia, etc.
  4. Depression due to prolonged pain syndrome.
  5. Alcohol-related depressive disorders.
  6. Violations of potency and libido, including against the background of depression.
  7. Benzodiazepine addiction.

Side effects

According to reviews, the following conditions may be side effects from taking Trittico:

  1. Drowsiness.
  2. Fast fatiguability.
  3. Headache.
  4. Nervous excitement.
  5. Dizziness.
  6. Myalgia.
  7. Weakness.
  8. Discoordination.
  9. Disorientation.
  10. Tremor.
  11. Paresthesia.
  12. Reduced blood pressure.
  13. Arrhythmia.
  14. Orthostatic hypotension as a consequence of the adrenolytic effect of taking the drug.
  15. Bradycardia.
  16. Neutropenia and leukopenia.
  17. Conduction disturbance.
  18. Feeling of bitterness in the mouth and dryness.
  19. Diarrhea.
  20. Nausea and vomiting.
  21. Allergic reactions.
  22. Decreased appetite.
  23. Eye irritation.
  24. Priapism.

The appearance of these symptoms is a reason to stop taking the drug and consult your doctor.

Contraindications

According to the instructions, Trittico is contraindicated in the following cases:

  1. Pregnancy and lactation.
  2. Children under 6 years of age.
  3. Individual intolerance to the components of the drug.

The drug should be prescribed to children under 18 years of age with the utmost caution. For elderly and debilitated patients, it is necessary to select an individual dosage regimen. Starting with a minimum dose, it can be increased depending on how the patient’s body responds to therapy. Typically, a sufficient daily dose of Trittico tablets is 300 mg.

Instructions for use

"Trittiko" is produced in the form of tablets of 75 and 150 mg.

The drug is taken orally half an hour before meals or at least two hours after. The tablet must not be chewed; it must be swallowed whole and washed down with plenty of clean water.

For adult patients, at the beginning of treatment, a single dose of 100 mg is prescribed immediately before going to bed. Starting from the fourth day of therapy, the dosage can be increased to 150 mg. To achieve the maximum effect of therapy with Trittico, the daily dosage should be increased by 50 mg every 4 days until it reaches 300 mg. Starting from 150 mg, the dose should be divided into two times. Most of it is taken before bed, and the smaller part is taken after lunch. For outpatients, the maximum daily dosage is increased to 450 mg; for inpatients, it can be 600 mg.
«>

For the treatment of decreased libido, the daily dosage is 50 mg. In the case of monotherapy in the treatment of impotence, it is recommended to take 200 mg per day, with combination therapy - 50 mg.

Therapy for benzodiazepine addiction involves a specific treatment regimen based on a gradual reduction in the dose of benzodiazepine and replacing it with the antidepressant Trittico. Reducing the dosage of benzodiazepine by ½ tablet, add 50 mg of trazodone. Then nothing changes for three weeks, then the benzodiazepine reduction continues until it is completely discontinued. Once this point is reached, trazodone is tapered off at 50 mg every three weeks.

The initial daily dosage for older people is 100 mg. It can be taken once before bed or divided into two doses. Increasing the dosage should only occur under the supervision of a physician. Most often, there is no need for a daily dosage of more than 300 mg.

Children aged 6 to 18 years are prescribed up to 2 mg per kilogram of body weight per day. Reception is divided into several times a day. It is possible to increase the dosage to 6 mg per kilogram per day.

Interaction with other drugs

Trittico reduces the effect of certain antihypertensive drugs, which may require a reduction in their dosage.

The effects of drugs such as methyldol and clonidine, which can depress the central nervous system, are also enhanced when taken simultaneously with trazodone.

Drugs with antihistamine action and anticholinergic activity increase the effectiveness of taking trazodone.

Trittico and alcohol are incompatible. This leads to hypoxia and deterioration in general well-being.">

The drug prolongs and enhances the anticholinergic and sedative effect of tricyclic antidepressants, loxapine, haloperidol, phenothiazine, thioxanthene, limozide and maprotiline.

Concomitant use of trazodone with MAO inhibitors significantly increases the risk of adverse reactions. This combination, among other things, increases the accumulation of phenytoin and digoxin in the blood plasma.

The drug also interacts with substances such as ritonavir, indinavir, ketoconazole and fluoxetine. These components increase the concentration of trazodone in the blood. Analogues of the drug Trittico should be selected by a doctor.

special instructions

Since the drug is capable of exhibiting certain adrenolytic activity, while taking it, bradycardia may appear, as well as blood pressure may decrease. For this reason, its prescription to patients with cardiovascular problems should be done with an assessment of possible risks. The same applies to patients with recent myocardial infarction, cardiac conduction disorders and AV block of varying severity.

Taking Trittico may cause a slight decrease in the level of leukocytes in the blood, but this phenomenon does not require special treatment unless it reaches the level of pronounced leukopenia.

During the course of therapy with this drug, microbiological blood tests should be performed regularly, especially if you have a sore throat or fever. The side effects of Trittico are described in detail above.

The drug has no anticholinergic effect. Therefore, it can be taken by older people who have a history of prostatic hypertrophy, cognitive impairment, or angle-closure glaucoma.

Available only by prescription. Unreasonable or too long erections are a reason to consult a doctor. Alcohol consumption is prohibited during therapy.

Since the drug has an anxiolytic and sedative effect, a decrease in attention and speed of psychomotor functions may occur. Therefore, for the duration of therapy, it is better to refrain from driving vehicles, operating high-precision mechanisms and other dangerous activities.

Antidepressant Trittico

Trittico tablets have a thymoleptic, muscle relaxant, mild sedative and anxiolytic effect. Due to the composition of the main substance, which is similar to the structure of serotonin receptors, the main pharmacological action is associated with the suppression of serotonin reuptake. The drug has no effect on the ability of neurons to capture dopamine and norepinephrine.

In addition to mental manifestations of anxiety states - increased irritability, fear, sleep disturbances - the use of the drug Trittico, according to the instructions, relieves somatic signs of developing depression, such as tachycardia, increased sweating, hyperventilation, frequent urge to urinate. In patients suffering from depression, during a course of treatment with this antidepressant, there is a normalization of the physiological structure of sleep, an increase in its depth and duration.

The medicine Trittiko helps restore libido and improve the quality of potency. Those suffering from alcohol dependence when taking the drug experience a decrease in craving for drinks containing ethanol. During the treatment of alcoholism, the medication effectively relieves withdrawal symptoms and the accompanying depressive disorder. According to doctors, trazodone can replace doses of benzodiazepines during the recovery period of patients, so drugs containing them can be completely excluded from therapy.

Composition and release form

The drug Trittico is available in oval-shaped tablets of white or white-yellow color, which may contain 75 or 150 mg of the main active ingredient - trazodone hydrochloride. Packaging forms for tablets 75 mg - 15 or 30 pieces, for a dosage of 150 mg - 10 or 20 pieces. The full composition of the antidepressant is presented below:

Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

The drug is produced on the basis of a triazolopyridine derivative. It has an antidepressant effect, has a mild sedative effect, relieves symptoms of anxiety, fights sleep disorders, and evens out the general emotional background of a patient in a state of depression. Trazodone hydrochloride has no effect on the breakdown of monoamine oxidase compared to the active substances of tricyclic antidepressants.

According to the instructions for use, trazodone is absorbed by the gastrointestinal tract (mainly in the intestines), the maximum concentration of the substance occurs 1.5-2 hours after administration. If the drug is taken during or after a meal, the period of absorption and achievement of maximum plasma concentration increases. The binding of trazodone hydrochloride to blood plasma proteins reaches 89-95%, it easily penetrates into all liquids - saliva, breast milk, bile.

Indications for use

The properties described in the instructions for the drug Trittiko determine its use in various forms of depressive conditions, in the complex treatment of alcoholism, and in the treatment of nervous system disorders. Indications for the use of an antidepressant are:

  • somatogenic, psychotic, neurotic or endogenous depression;
  • decreased libido and sexual activity;
  • insomnia and other sleep disorders;
  • appetite and eating disorders (bulimia, anorexia);
  • increased fatigue, chronic fatigue syndrome;
  • various phobias, obsessive states;
  • dependence on benzodiazepine drugs.

How to take Trittico

The instructions for the drug Trittico contain general recommendations for its use. The treatment regimen is developed by the attending physician depending on the specific diagnosis, the severity of the condition and the individual characteristics of the patient’s body. The drug is taken half an hour before or two hours after meals. The tablets are not chewed and washed down with water. The maximum daily dose of trazodone in inpatient settings is 600 mg/day, in outpatient settings – 45 mg/day.

Initial doses of Trittico, depending on the diagnosis, vary between 50-100 mg once a day (before bedtime). Every three days, the dosage is gradually increased (by 50 mg) until an antidepressant effect is achieved (without exceeding the maximum daily dose). The dose is divided into two approaches, the main part of the drug is taken in the evening. Features of admission depending on the condition and diagnosis are as follows:

  • old age - the daily dosage gradually increases from 100 to 300 mg;
  • sexual desire disorder – daily dose 50 mg;
  • children's age (from 6 to 18 years) – 1.5 mg per kilogram of weight.

special instructions

Instructions for use Trittico recommends taking the drug with caution in case of interruptions in blood pressure (arterial hypertension or hypotension). Due to the adrenolytic activity of trazodone, bradycardia may occur; therefore, if the patient has a history of myocardial infarction, it is necessary to carefully monitor pressure changes during therapy.

According to the observations of doctors, the sedative effect caused by taking Trittico can impair the speed of psychomotor reactions and reduce attention. During the treatment period, it is recommended to avoid activities that require high precision. For children and adolescents from 6 to 18 years old, persons with impaired liver and kidney function, the drug can be prescribed for acute conditions.

During pregnancy

According to the instructions, the use of Trittico is contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding. There is no data on the ability of trazodone hydrochloride to penetrate the placental barrier; therefore, an objective assessment of the effect of taking the drug on fetal development and the general course of pregnancy is impossible. The substance passes into breast milk, therefore, if there is an urgent need to treat the mother with the use of this antidepressant, the process of feeding the baby should be suspended.

In childhood

Trittico is prescribed to children with caution and only if there is an urgent need. The drug is contraindicated for children under 6 years of age. The daily dosage, regimen and duration of treatment are prescribed by the doctor. The instructions for use do not recommend exceeding the daily dose, calculated based on the proportion of 1.5 mg of trazodone per kilogram of the child’s weight. Treatment is carried out under regular supervision of specialists.

Drug interactions

Trazodone actively interacts with substances of other antidepressants and potent drugs, therefore the instructions for use describe the following features of the interaction of Trittico:

  • enhances the anticholinergic and sedative effect of drugs such as Haloperidol, Phenothiazine, Pimozide, Thioxanthene, Loxapine, tricyclic antidepressants;
  • increases the effect of drugs that lower blood pressure;
  • co-administration with monoamine oxidase inhibitors increases the risk of side effects and the concentration of Digoxin and Phenytoin in the blood plasma;
  • co-administration with carbamazepine will reduce the plasma concentration of trazodone.

Trittico and alcohol

Drinking alcohol during the course of treatment with Trittico is not recommended in the instructions for use. Taking the drug increases the load on the liver, kidneys, and cardiovascular system, so parallel consumption of alcohol increases the risk of developing side effects such as arrhythmia and other reactions from cardiac activity. Taking Trittico with alcohol is especially dangerous for people with a history of myocardial infarction.

Side effects of Trittico

During the course of treatment with Trittico, according to the instructions for use, side effects from the central nervous and cardiovascular systems are possible (dizziness and headaches, myalgia, impaired coordination of movements, drowsiness; changes in blood pressure, fainting). In some cases, negative consequences manifest themselves in the form of nausea, visual impairment, hematopoietic functions (formation of leukocytes) - leukopenia, neutropenia.

Overdose

The main evidence of a drug overdose, according to reviews, are nausea, a sharp decrease in blood pressure, dizziness and fainting. If such reactions occur, you must stop taking the drug and undergo a course of rehabilitation therapy. According to the instructions for use, there is no specific antidote for trazodone, so treatment is carried out in accordance with the symptoms.

Contraindications

Instructions for use of Trittico describe a number of conditions in which taking the drug is strictly not recommended. In addition to children under 6 years of age and periods of pregnancy and lactation, the main contraindications include:

  • arterial hypertension;

What you need to know before taking the antidepressant Trittico: instructions, reviews

Trittico (Trazodone) is an antidepressant that belongs to the triazolopyridine group. Available in the form of biconvex tablets of prolonged action, white, 75 and 150 mg of active ingredient.

The composition contains the active component trazodone hydrochloride and impurity components: wax, cane sugar, magnesium stearate, povidone.

pharmachologic effect

The functioning component of the drug is trazodone, which has an antidepressant effect with a sedative and anxiolytic effect.

The medication differs from other antidepressants in its tricyclic structure and the absence of monoamine oxidase. The active component trazodone quickly eliminates somatic and mental symptoms, especially effective in case of sleep disturbances.

The drug is also able to normalize an excited pathetic state, restore potency and improve mood.

Trazodone has some similarities with certain types of serotonin receptors. The drug removes the pathogenetic cause of depression (serotonin deficiency), as a result of which it has an antidepressant effect.

When the active substance acts on the body, emotional tension is eliminated, the feeling of panic disappears, and falling asleep is accelerated. The medication eliminates symptoms such as headache, tachycardia, myalgia and signs of acute restlessness and anxiety.

As a result of the action of the drug, normal sleep patterns are restored. When completing a therapeutic course, there is a stabilization of the emotional state and a decrease in craving for alcohol in the presence of withdrawal syndrome.

Addiction to this medicine was not recorded. The active element does not have anticholinergic activity, so it does not have any effects on cardiac function.

The functioning algorithm of Trittico lies in the ability to influence the serotonergic system. The active substance selectively blocks the recurrent rejection of serotonin.

The drug provokes an adrenergic blocking effect and reduces the susceptibility of beta-adrenergic receptors. The active components influence the neuronal uptake of dopamine and norepinephrine. The drug is especially effective for sleep disorders in patients in a state of apathy. The medication significantly improves mood and general pathetic state.

Pharmacokinetics of the drug

The medication has a high level of absorption from the gastrointestinal tract. Simultaneous administration of the drug with food slows down the absorption time.

The maximum accumulation of drug components in the blood plasma is observed 1-2 hours after its internal administration. The ability to switch drug components and plasma proteins is 90-95%. The active component is able to penetrate granulocyte barriers and can pass into breast milk.

The metabolic process takes place in the liver, followed by the release of the active metabolite chlorophenylpiperazine. The half-life of the drug is 3-6 hours. A significant amount of antrols is excreted by the kidneys (75%). Complete withdrawal stops 98 hours after consuming the drug. About twenty percent of the drug is excreted in the bile.

Indications and contraindications for use

Trittico is prescribed for the following diseases:

Contraindications to the use of the drug:

  • hypersensitivity to the active component of the drug;
  • pregnancy period;
  • children under six years of age;
  • liver or kidney failure;
  • history of priapism;
  • manifestation of symptoms of ventricular extrasystole;
  • arterial hypertension;
  • the initial period of remission after a heart attack;
  • presence of tachycardia.

Instructions for use

Trittico tablets are prescribed for internal use, 30 minutes before a meal, or four hours after a meal.

It is recommended to consume the tablets without chewing, as the integrity of the film shell may be compromised. The course of treatment should begin with a dose of 50-100 mg at a time. This amount should be consumed during the first three days of the therapeutic course.

Starting from the fourth day, the dose of the drug must be increased to 150 milligrams per day. Next, the amount of medication should be increased by 50 mg per day until the desired therapeutic dose is established.

In general, the total daily amount of medication should not exceed 150 mg at a time. Patterns of drug use differ depending on the age category of patients:

  1. Age 18 years. The daily dose is calculated in the amount of 1-2 mg per body weight. The established amount is divided into several doses. If necessary, the daily amount of medication can be gradually increased every three days to a total dose of 6 mg per 1 kg of weight.
  2. Elderly and malnourished patients. The course of therapy for this category of patients begins with a dose of 100 mg per day. Next, the amount of the drug is increased to a total daily dose of 300 mg.

The drug is not recommended for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. For patients with impaired renal and liver function, the drug is prescribed with extreme caution. Trittico is also not prescribed in childhood (up to six years). It is not recommended to drink alcohol while undergoing treatment with this medication.

Overdose and side effects

In case of an overdose of Trittico, the following reactions from the nervous system occur: tremor, drowsiness, agitation and headaches. Indigestion is also observed, resulting in nausea, bitterness, etc.

Side effects include the following:

  • cardiovascular system - decreased blood pressure, leukopenia, neutropenia, bradycardia, impaired conduction;
  • digestive system – diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, loss of appetite;
  • main and peripheral nervous system - severe fatigue, disorientation, trembling, dizziness, numbness of the limbs and general weakness.

To get rid of all of the above symptoms, you need to carry out symptomatic therapy and remove the remaining medication from the body with the help of diuretics.

The active ingredient trazodone may enhance the effects of certain antihypertensive medications. In this case it is required reducing the doses of both medications.

When used simultaneously with drugs that suppress the central nervous system, the effect of the latter is significantly enhanced.

Antihistamines and medications with anticholinergic activity provoke an increase in the anticholinergic effect of trazadone. When taken in parallel with tricyclic stimulants, the sedative and anticholinergic effect increases.

When taken simultaneously with MAO blockers and Carbamazepine, the likelihood of unwanted effects increases.

In this article you can read the instructions for use of the drug Trittico. Feedback from site visitors - consumers of this antidepressant medication, as well as the opinions of specialist doctors on the use of Trittico in their practice are presented. We kindly ask you to actively add your reviews about the drug: whether the medicine helped or did not help get rid of the disease, what complications and side effects were observed, perhaps not stated by the manufacturer in the annotation. Trittico analogues in the presence of existing structural analogues. Use for the treatment of depression, anxiety and phobias in adults, children, and during pregnancy and lactation. Composition and interaction of the drug with alcohol.

Trittico- antidepressant. Trazodone (the active ingredient of the drug Trittico), being a triazolopyridine derivative, has a predominantly antidepressant effect, with some sedative and anxiolytic effects.

Trittico is effective for sleep disorders in patients with depression, increases the depth and duration of sleep, restores its physiological structure and quality.

Compound

Trazodone hydrochloride + excipients.

Pharmacokinetics

Absorption of the drug from the gastrointestinal tract after oral administration is high. Taking trazodone with or immediately after a meal slows the rate of absorption. Plasma protein binding - 89-95%. Penetrates through histohematic barriers, as well as into tissues and liquids (bile, saliva, breast milk). Trazodone is metabolized in the liver, the active metabolite is 1-m-chlorophenylpiperazine. Most of the metabolites are excreted by the kidneys - about 75%, and excretion is completely completed 98 hours after administration; About 20% is administered with bile.

Indications

  • anxiety-depressive states of endogenous nature (including involutional depression);
  • psychogenic depression (including reactive and neurotic depression);
  • anxiety-depressive states against the background of organic diseases of the central nervous system (dementia, Alzheimer's disease, cerebral atherosclerosis);
  • depressive states with prolonged pain syndrome;
  • alcoholic depression;
  • benzodiazepine dependence;
  • disorders of libido and potency (impotence), incl. for depressive conditions.

Release forms

Controlled release tablets 75 mg and 150 mg (extended release).

Instructions for use and dosage regimen

The drug is taken orally 30 minutes before meals or 2-4 hours after meals. The prescribed dose of the tablet should be taken whole, without chewing and with a sufficient amount of water.

Adults are prescribed an initial dose of 100 mg 1 time per day after meals before bedtime. On the 4th day you can increase the dose to 150 mg. Subsequently, in order to achieve the optimal therapeutic effect, the dose is increased by 50 mg per day every 3-4 days until the optimal dose is reached.

Children aged 6-18 years: initial daily dose of 1.5-2 mg/kg per day, divided into several doses. If necessary, the dose is gradually increased to 6 mg/kg per day at intervals of 3-4 days.

Side effect

  • increased fatigue;
  • drowsiness;
  • excitation;
  • headache;
  • dizziness;
  • weakness;
  • myalgia;
  • incoordination;
  • paresthesia;
  • disorientation;
  • tremor;
  • decrease in blood pressure;
  • orthostatic hypotension (especially in persons with vasomotor lability) is due to the adrenolytic effect of the drug;
  • arrhythmia;
  • conduction disturbance;
  • bradycardia;
  • leukopenia and neutropenia (usually minor);
  • dryness and bitterness in the mouth;
  • nausea, vomiting;
  • diarrhea;
  • decreased appetite;
  • allergic reactions;
  • eye irritation;
  • priapism (patients who experience this side effect should immediately stop taking the drug and consult a doctor).

Contraindications

  • pregnancy;
  • lactation period;
  • children under 6 years of age;
  • hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding

The drug is contraindicated for use during pregnancy and lactation (breastfeeding).

Use in children

Contraindicated in children under 6 years of age. The drug should be prescribed with caution to patients under 18 years of age.

Use in elderly patients

For elderly and weakened patients, the initial dose is up to 100 mg per day in fractional doses or 1 time per day before bedtime. The dose may be increased under medical supervision, depending on the effectiveness and tolerability of the drug. Usually no dose exceeding 300 mg per day is required.

special instructions

Since the drug has some adrenolytic activity, bradycardia and a decrease in blood pressure may develop. Therefore, the drug should be prescribed with caution to patients with cardiac conduction disorders, AV block of varying severity, and patients with a recent myocardial infarction.

When using Trittico, a slight decrease in the number of leukocytes is possible, which does not require specific treatment, except in cases of severe leukopenia. Therefore, during the treatment period, it is recommended to conduct peripheral blood tests, especially in the presence of pain in the throat when swallowing and the appearance of fever.

The drug does not have an anticholinergic effect, so it can be prescribed to elderly patients suffering from prostatic hypertrophy, angle-closure glaucoma, and cognitive impairment.

The drug is available with a prescription.

If prolonged and inadequate erections occur, the patient should consult a doctor.

During the treatment period, the patient must abstain from drinking alcohol.

Impact on the ability to drive vehicles and operate machinery

Since the drug has anxiolytic and sedative activity, a decrease in the ability to concentrate and the speed of psychomotor reactions is possible. During treatment, the patient should avoid engaging in potentially hazardous activities, incl. driving vehicles and operating machinery.

Drug interactions

Trittico may enhance the effect of some antihypertensive drugs and a dose reduction is usually required.

Simultaneous administration with drugs that depress the central nervous system (including clonidine, methyldopa) enhances the effect of the latter.

Antihistamines and drugs with anticholinergic activity enhance the anticholinergic effect of trazodone.

Trazodone enhances and prolongs the sedative and anticholinergic effects of tricyclic antidepressants, haloperidol, loxapine, maprotiline, phenothiazine, pimozide and thioxanthene.

MAO inhibitors increase the risk of side effects from trazodone.

When used together, it increases the concentration of digoxin and phenytoin in the blood plasma.

  • enhances the anticholinergic and sedative effect of drugs such as Haloperidol, Phenothiazine, Pimozide, Thioxanthene, Loxapine, tricyclic antidepressants;
  • increases the effect of drugs that lower blood pressure;
  • co-administration with monoamine oxidase inhibitors increases the risk of side effects and the concentration of Digoxin and Phenytoin in the blood plasma;

  • arterial hypertension;
  • chronic tachycardia;
  • early recovery period after myocardial infarction;
  • individual intolerance to the components of the drug.

Pharmacodynamics

Trazodone, being a triazolopyridine derivative, has a predominantly antidepressant effect, with some sedative and anxiolytic effects. Trazodone has no effect on MAO, which distinguishes it from MAO inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants.

Trazodone stabilizes the emotional state, improves mood, reduces pathological craving for alcohol in patients suffering from chronic alcoholism during the period of alcohol withdrawal syndrome, also in remission. For withdrawal symptoms in patients suffering from dependence on benzodiazepine derivatives, trazodone is effective in the treatment of anxiety, depression and sleep disorders. During remission, benzodiazepines can be completely replaced by trazodone.

The drug is not addictive.

Helps restore libido and potency, both in patients with depression and in people who do not suffer from depression.

The mechanism of action of trazodone is associated with the high affinity of the drug for certain subtypes of serotonin receptors, with which trazodone enters into an antagonistic or agonistic interaction depending on the subtype, as well as with the specific ability to cause inhibition of serotonin reuptake.

The neutral uptake of norepinephrine and dopamine has little effect.

The drug does not affect body weight.

Pharmacokinetics

Absorption of the drug from the gastrointestinal tract after oral administration is high. Taking trazodone during or immediately after a meal slows down the rate of absorption, reduces Cmax of the drug in the blood plasma and increases Tmax. Tmax of the drug is achieved 1/2-2 hours after oral administration.

The drug penetrates histohematic barriers, as well as into tissues and fluids (bile, saliva, breast milk).

Plasma protein binding is 89-95%.

Trazodone is metabolized in the liver, the active metabolite is 1-m-chlorophenylpiperazine. T1/2 in the first phase is 3-6 hours, in the second phase - 5-9 hours. The majority of the metabolized drug is excreted through the kidneys, with urine (about 75%) and is completely completed 98 hours after taking the drug, with bile about 20% is excreted.

Research in vitro on human microsomes showed that trazodone is primarily metabolized by the cytochrome P450 CYP3A4.

Indications for the drug Trittico

anxiety-depressive states of endogenous nature (including involutional depression);

psychogenic depression (including reactive and neurotic depression);

anxiety-depressive states against the background of organic diseases of the central nervous system (dementia, Alzheimer's disease, cerebral atherosclerosis);

depressive states with prolonged pain syndrome;

alcoholic depression;

benzodiazepine dependence;

libido and potency disorders (including erectile dysfunction in depressive conditions).

Contraindications

hypersensitivity to the drug;

pregnancy period;

lactation period;

children under 6 years of age.

Carefully the drug should be prescribed to patients with AV block, myocardial infarction (early recovery period), arterial hypertension (dose adjustment of antihypertensive drugs may be required), ventricular arrhythmia, a history of priapism, renal and/or liver failure. Patients under the age of 18 years, due to the possibility of developing the risk of suicidal behavior (suicidal plans, aggressiveness, tendency to contradict, anger).

Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding

Side effects

From the side of the central nervous system: increased fatigue, drowsiness, agitation, headache, dizziness, weakness, myalgia, incoordination, paresthesia, disorientation, tremor.

From the cardiovascular system and hematopoietic system: decreased blood pressure, orthostatic hypotension caused by adrenolytic action (especially in individuals with vasomotor lability), arrhythmia, conduction disturbances, bradycardia; leukopenia and neutropenia (usually minor)..

From the gastrointestinal tract: dryness and bitterness in the mouth, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite.

Other: allergic reactions, eye irritation, priapism (you should immediately stop taking the drug and consult a doctor).

Interaction

Trazodone may enhance the effect of some antihypertensive drugs and usually requires a dose reduction.

Simultaneous administration with drugs that depress the central nervous system (including clonidine, methyldopa) enhances the effect of the latter.

Antihistamines and drugs with anticholinergic activity enhance the anticholinergic effect of trazodone.

Trazodone enhances and prolongs the sedative and anticholinergic effects of tricyclic antidepressants, haloperidol, loxapine, maprotiline, phenothiazine, pimozidane and thioxanthine.

When tricyclic antidepressants and trazodone are prescribed simultaneously, cardiovascular side effects may occur.

MAO inhibitors increase the risk of side effects.

When used together, it increases the concentration of digoxin and phenytoin in the blood plasma.

In vitro drug metabolism studies indicate the possibility of pharmacological interaction of trazodone with inhibitors of cytochrome P450 CYP3A4, such as ketoconazole, ritonavir, indinavir and fluoxetine. CYP3A4 inhibitors may result in significant increases in trazodone plasma concentrations, thereby increasing the likelihood of adverse events. Therefore, when used in combination with potent CYP3A4 inhibitors, the dose of trazodone should be reduced.

When trazodone is taken in combination with carbamazepine, the plasma concentration of trazodone is reduced. Therefore, patients taking trazodone and carbamazepine concomitantly should be closely monitored.

Directions for use and doses

Inside, 30 minutes before or 2-4 hours after meals. The tablets should be taken whole, without chewing and with plenty of water.

The initial dose is 50-100 mg, once before bedtime. On the 4th day, it is possible to increase the dose to 150 mg. Further increases in dosage should be made by 50 mg/day every 3-4 days until the optimal dose is reached. A daily dose of more than 150 mg should be divided into 2 doses, with the smaller dose taken after lunch and the main dose before bedtime.

The maximum daily dose for outpatients is 450 mg, for inpatients - 600 mg.

Children 6-18 years old: initial daily dose of 1.5-2 mg/kg/day, divided into several doses. If necessary, the dose is gradually (with an interval of 3-4 days) increased to 6 mg/kg/day.

Elderly and debilitated patients: initial dose up to 100 mg/day in several doses or once before bedtime. If necessary, the dose can be increased (usually no more than 300 mg/day).

Treatment of erectile dysfunction: monotherapy - recommended daily dose - 150-200 mg, combination therapy - 50 mg.

Treatment of benzodiazepine dependence: The recommended treatment regimen is based on a gradual, sometimes over several months, reduction of the benzodiazepine dose. Each time, reducing the benzodiazepine dose by 1/4 or 1/2 tablet, 50 mg of trazodone is added at the same time. This ratio is left unchanged for 3 weeks, then a further gradual reduction in the dose of benzodiazepines is started until their complete abolition. After this, reduce the daily dose of trazodone by 50 mg every 3 weeks.

Overdose

Symptoms: nausea, drowsiness, arterial hypotension, increased frequency and severity of side effects.

Treatment: Conducting symptomatic therapy (gastric lavage, forced diuresis). There is no specific antidote.

special instructions

Since the drug has some adrenolytic activity, bradycardia and a decrease in blood pressure may develop. Therefore, caution should be exercised when prescribing the drug to patients with cardiac conduction disorders, AV block of varying severity, or recent myocardial infarction. When using trazodone, a slight decrease in the number of leukocytes is possible, which does not require specific treatment, except in cases of severe leukopenia. Therefore, it is recommended to conduct peripheral blood tests, especially if there is a sore throat when swallowing and fever.

The drug does not have an anticholinergic effect, so it can be prescribed to elderly patients suffering from prostatic hypertrophy, angle-closure glaucoma, and cognitive impairment.

If you experience prolonged and inadequate erections, you should consult a doctor.

There have been no relevant studies on the effectiveness of the drug in pediatrics, so the drug should be used with caution in persons under 18 years of age. Doses for children under 6 years of age have not been established.

During treatment you should refrain from drinking alcohol.

Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and machinery. Since the drug has anxiolytic and sedative activity, a decrease in attention and reaction speed is possible. During treatment, you should refrain from engaging in potentially hazardous activities that require concentration and rapid psychomotor reactions.
